The International Tax Manager at Rackspace Technology is responsible for transfer pricing calculations and compliance, Local GAAP and US GAAP tax provision preparation, international income tax compliance, tax account reconciliations, and tax research. Assists with international expansion, special projects, and tax audits.

Location: Remotely in the United States of America
Travel: Expected travel once a month to the Rackspace Technology Headquarters

KNOWEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY

    • Knowledge of international tax and transfer pricing.
    • Thorough knowledge of the proper method for documenting transfer pricing, tax and accounting calculations and preparing supporting workpapers.
    • Knowledge of SEC and IRS reporting requirements.  
    • Ability to work under minimal supervision, independently and/or as a member of a project team.
    • Ability to conduct tax technical research and analysis in order to provide a recommended solution.
    • Must be detailed oriented – with strong attention to accuracy and problem solving.  “Following-up until resolved” skills are a must.
    • Excellent computer skills.  Skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) are a must.  Skills in Accounting software (Hyperion Financial Management or OneStream and Alteryx) preferred.  Skills with ERPs preferred.
    • A strong ability to communicate information and ideas both verbally and written so others can easily comprehend communication.  
    • Ability to successfully work with other departments in the company and with teams outside the US.  
    • Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Must be able to adapt quickly to change. 
    • Ability to provide FANATICAL support.

JOB COMPLEXITY

    • Prepare and review transfer pricing calculations and review of transfer pricing reports including coordination with external tax advisors.
    • Build, modify and model new and complex transfer pricing and tax calculations due to changes in the business and/or tax law.
    • Preparation and review of the quarterly local GAAP and US GAAP tax provision for international entities.
    • Review of local country tax returns and manage external local country tax advisors to ensure timely filing.
    • Investigates and prepares responses to notices and inquiries from various taxing authorities.
    • Perform tax research and analysis in order to provide a recommended solution and prepare written documentation to support tax positions taken.
    • Understanding and ongoing development of knowledge related to tax reform and the impact of transfer pricing and intercompany transactions on tax reform and US compliance including assisting with limited preparation and review of Forms 5471, 8858, 8975, 8990-3, and 1118 as needed.
    • Assist with income tax or indirect tax audits as needed.
    • Assist with expansion into new international locations as needed.
    • Prepare calculations for journal entry postings and perform account reconciliations.  
    • Assist with Value Added Tax (VAT) and other indirect tax returns as needed. 
    • Ongoing development of technical knowledge of applicable tax laws and regulations.
    • Operates under minimal supervision.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.   Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required.  Master's degree preferred. 
    • Typically 8 years professional accounting experience with 2-4 years in area being managed. 
    • Minimum 2 years leadership experience required. 
    • ERP experience a plus. 
    • Experience in Public Accounting, Big 4 and Corporate Accounting highly desired.
    • CPA or equivalent preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • General office environment.  May require long periods sitting and viewing a computer monitor.  Moderate levels of stress may occur. Ability to work extended hours during close.

The anticipated starting pay range for Colorado is: $96,800 – $142,010 
The anticipated starting pay range for the states of Hawaii and New York (not including NYC) is: $103,100 – $151,140
The anticipated starting pay range for California, New York City and Washington is: $112,900 – $165,550
Unless already included in the posted pay range and based on eligibility, the role may include variable compensation in the form of bonus, commissions, or other discretionary payments. These discretionary payments are based on company and/or individual performance and may change at any time. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location.
