Business Development Manager - Osaka Startupbootcamp Scale

This is a unique opportunity to play a key Business Development role with the team creating and executing a world-class program focused on leading international tech scale-ups and their entry into Japan to engage with Japanese companies and consumers.

Rainmaking is hiring a Business Development Manager to work closely with the Managing Director to build and execute a world-class business development plan to ensure the sustainability of the Osaka Startupbootcamp Scale program, to seek and build new opportunities for Rainmaking in Japan, to assist with relationship management with an existing consortium of large and prestigious Japanese corporate partners and finally to act as an advisor and mentor for high quality foreign scaleup companies in our program as they attempt to secure their first Japanese customers. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with the COO, this role offers an opportunity to make a significant impact connecting foreign startups and scaleups with Osaka city and the greater Kansai region.

We’re looking for someone who ticks as many of the following boxes as possible, and the first one is non-negotiable ;) :

- You are a great match with our strong and value driven culture (see below)
- You have 5+ years of experience in successful business development and sales in Japan (preferably working with foreign companies entering the Japan market)
- Strong experience pitching and selling in Japanese language
- Ability to engage on strategic planning as to close deals
- Ability to work within diverse teams including different cultures
- Ability to provide clear and timely communication (in English) with team
- Preferred existing network in corporate Japan at sponsorship decision making level
- You have a strong understanding and experience with Japanese business culture (Native level Japanese language skills preferred)
- Preferred Japan based startup experience
- You are organized, action and service oriented
- You are a self starter with focus on execution and speed

Desired criteria includes :

- Experience working with startups, growth companies and/or in the corporate world.
- You have a current knowledge of the accelerator and incubator programs in Asia and beyond
- You are diplomatic and cool under pressure
