Range is seeking a highly skilled, proactive, and versatile Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the bring up of Range’s manufacturing processes and the evolution of this process from initial pilot and pre-production stages to a future large scale manufacturing operation. While this role will be highly operational and tactical, this role is pivotal in shaping the strategic direction of our production capabilities.
Inside the Role:
- Oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations including initial pilot builds, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met or exceeded.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues to optimize processes in partnership with our engineering and operations teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline production workflows and resolve operational challenges.
- Act as a liaison between the manufacturing team and other departments to ensure alignment with broader organizational goals.
- Perform hands-on technician duties as needed, including troubleshooting equipment issues, conducting maintenance tasks, and providing on-the-floor support to ensure smooth manufacturing operations.
- Contribute to the development of short and long-term manufacturing plans, considering scalability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide insights on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive benchmarks to inform strategic decision-making.
- Work closely with senior leadership to develop and execute manufacturing strategies aligned with overall company objectives.
- Lead and actively participate in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews, collaborating with the product design and engineering teams to assess the manufacturability of new products.
- Provide expertise and guidance during the product development phase, offering insights to optimize designs for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes.
- Champion DFM principles throughout the organization, conducting training sessions and workshops to instill a culture of design consideration for ease of manufacturing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bridge the gap between design and production, ensuring seamless integration of new products into the manufacturing processes.
- Lead initiatives to continuously improve DFM practices, incorporating feedback loops and lessons learned from previous projects into the design and manufacturing processes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement innovative solutions to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Conduct regular process audits, implementing best practices and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Take a hands-on approach in developing comprehensive work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to guide manufacturing technicians in executing tasks with precision and consistency.
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies or methodologies to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
- Effectively document and record various iterations of the process.

The Must Haves:
- Proven experience in a senior manufacturing engineering role, preferably within the automotive industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality control.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive process improvements.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to contribute to the development and execution of manufacturing strategies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a hands-on, proactive approach.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with relevant software tools and technologies.
Other Requirements:
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds of equipment. Comfortable with occasional bending, kneeling, and climbing as required for infrastructure maintenance. Ability to sustain extended periods of sitting and computer usage.
- Travel Requirements: Occasional travel required up to 15% of the time.
- While we appreciate the importance of schedule flexibility, it's essential to note that the nature of this role necessitates a regular and consistent onsite presence.
Bonus Points:
- Previous experience with implementation of ERP systems
- Experience with relevant systems and platforms such as Google Workspace, ADP, Lever, Box, DocuSign, and ClickUp
Range Energy’s compensation package includes a competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, and a generous benefits package. The salary range for Mountain View, CA based applicants is between $150,000 - $205,000 USD annually. The total compensation will be determined based on multiple factors including domain knowledge, experience and location.
