Mechanical Engineer - Chassis Development

As a mechanical engineer working on chassis systems, you will design the underpinnings of the Range Energy platform, where rubber meets the road. This includes wheel, tire, axle, brake, and suspension components that safely propel and cushion the Range Energy platform ensuring our customers realize energy cost savings and reduced emissions while moving goods from point A to B.

Responsibilities

    • Design, build, and test chassis systems for Range Energy’s electric vehicle platform
    • Prototype initial design concepts to mitigate project risk
    • Collaborate company-wide at Range Energy to ensure project success
    • Perform a variety of project analysis functions including DFM, DFMEA, FTA, IQC, 8D, & etc.
    • Interface with customers and suppliers on a technical and project level

Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • Suspension, wheel/tire/axle, or foundation brakes design experience
    • Experience with manufacturing methods such as stamping, casting, welding, or adhesive systems
    • Demonstrated success in previous chassis design projects
    • Experience with industrial grade CAD and FEA

Preferred Skills

    • 5+ years of experience in vehicle structural design in the medium/heavy duty truck industry
    • Familiarity with common NVH requirements and mitigation techniques
    • Proficient in CATIA V5 and stress/modal analysis software
    • Mechatronics and wire harness experience
    • Experience and understanding of medium and heavy duty truck and trailer DOT regulations
Range Energy’s compensation package includes a competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, and a generous benefits package. The salary range for Mountain View, CA based applicants is between $95,000 - $180,000 USD annually. The total compensation will be determined based on multiple factors including domain knowledge, experience and location.
