The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing improved strategic sourcing policies.  Strategically analyzing suppliers, supply markets, and supply chains, creating cost estimates and forecasts, negotiating cost-effective contracts with key suppliers, and overseeing our sourcing team.

This role will work directly with the Director of Supply Chain to provide high-quality strategic analysis and insight into suppliers and markets. The individual will play a key role in contracting support and will be responsible for a range of responsibilities supporting both Commercial and R&D Procurement.

Responsibilities& Duties

    • Contract Management: Prepare, negotiate, and execute appropriate forms of contracting in collaboration with business stakeholders for both Commercial and R&D Procurement.
    • Supplier and Supply Market Analysis: Conduct detailed supplier and supply market analysis, utilizing facts, data analysis, reports, and technology changes to provide deep and meaningful insights, develop recommendations, and guide execution on plans involving to both Commercial and R&D Procurement.
    • Cost Modeling: Construct detailed cost models and purchase price analysis of goods and services supplied to our Company, requiring extensive supplier discussions to gain a complete understanding of the cost structure of suppliers, as wells as develop recommendations for Make vs. Buy decisions. 
    • Strategic Analysis: Conduct various forms of project analysis, such as portfolio analysis, supplier preferences, and day one sourcing, to transform the information gathered from supplier and market analysis into insightful, well-structured breakthrough options and opportunities.  Estimating risks and applying risk minimizing techniques to current portfolio.
    • Negotiation Planning and Execution: Create detailed pre-negotiation plans, lead and participate in negotiation sessions with suppliers, and conduct post-negotiation debriefs and follow-through plans.
    • Sourcing: Create and execute RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, and conduct structured information analysis for both Commercial and R&D Procurement areas.
    • Process Streamlining: Identify and execute opportunities to streamline and simplify existing sourcing and procurement processes.
    • Supplier Performance Management: Ensure that appropriate supplier agreements and relationships embed good supplier metrics. Monitor, report, manage, and continuously improve supplier performance in both Commercial and R&D Procurement areas.
    • Sharing of Learnings: As a Sourcing Manager, generate work of world-class quality and share knowledge, providing knowledge transfer to colleagues throughout procurement.
    • Stakeholder Management: Develop strong stakeholder relationships, gain an understanding of existing and future business needs, and support category knowledge development, forecasting, and project pipeline management. Support stakeholder awareness in helping to ensure compliance with the applicable channel strategy.

Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years’ experience of strategic sourcing in procurement in the medical device industry
    • Minimum of 3 years of contract management, with demonstrated experience and expertise in negotiating and executing contracts.
    • Ability to manage projects simultaneously with excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills with advanced ability to collaborate and negotiate 
    • Solution-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement, with exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities
    • Superb leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and build strong relationships with suppliers
    • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
    • Willingness to travel to develop, promote, and maintain strategic sourcing relationships 
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing environments

    • This position will have the ability to work remotely 1-2 days per week with the remainder of time being spent at our Palo Alto headquarters and/or traveling to local supplier sites. 
$160,800 - $180,900 a year
Commensurate with experience, training etc.
