DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The International Player Development Staff is dedicated to cultivating impact talent from around the globe utilizing best-in-class practices for mental, physical, and fundamental progression. POSITION OVERVIEW:

The International Instructor will work within the organization’s International Operations department to ensure players are receiving instruction aligned with organizational standards while away from Red Sox facilities.  The role will require working closely with the Scouting & Player Development (PD) departments to monitor progress, provide instruction, and take measurables of players in Venezuela.  The role may also require assisting at Red Sox workouts around the country.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work with players across Venezuela with regular check-ins.
    • Log progress and provide department leadership with feedback after meetings with players.
    • Assist with the collection of data, such as Blast Motion and Trackman, to monitor the progress of assigned players.
    • Ensure alignment between the player and PD Department initiatives while away from Red Sox facilities.
    • Communicate daily and provide periodic feedback to players, coaches, coordinators, and department leadership.
    • Assist at Red Sox workouts as assigned by scouting staff.
    • Additional duties or projects assigned by department leadership. 

CHARACTERISTICS/QUALIFICATIONS

    • Venezuelan residency required.
    • Applicants are expected to fulfill the duration of the position.
    • High level of interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of departments, seniority levels, and personalities.
    • Applicants with some combination of coaching, playing, scouting, and/or baseball technology experience preferred.
    • Proficiency performing the basic functions of a baseball coach, e.g., hitting fungo, playing catch, and throwing batting practice.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required.
    • Possession of a valid passport and personal means of transportation.
    • Applicants must be willing to travel within Venezuela and internationally as assigned.
    • Spanish fluency required; English proficiency preferred.
