DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
The Player Development Staff is dedicated to cultivating impact talent from around the globe utilizing best-in-class practices for mental, physical, and fundamental progression. POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Academy Development Coach will work within the Player Development department to ensure information is leveraged to advance development goals of minor league players at the Dominican Republic Academy. The position will work closely with Roving Coordinators, Academy Staff, and Baseball Analytics, to help inform decision making related to player plan goals. The role will have a dual-reporting relationship with the Assistant, Player Development and Manager, Player Development. The ideal candidate is inquisitive, data-driven, open-minded, and possesses strong interpersonal skills.   

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Aid in the implementation of new technology, to collect information and improve player performance.
    • Assist with the integration of information from the Baseball Analytics department.
    • Ensure that on-field coordinators, coaches, Baseball Analytics, and are aligned with goals for each individual player.
    • Provide daily communication and periodic feedback reports to players, coaches, coordinators, and front office.
    • Perform important quality control functions related to data recorded and information delivered to players and staff members.
    • Assist with the daily upkeep of player development materials.
    • Perform ad-hoc research and analysis supporting Player Development initiatives as requested by staff. 

COMPETENCIES:

    • Experience evaluating and prescribing best-in-class drills to address deficiencies in each individual player.
    • Able to develop programming towards organizationally defined KPI’s.
    • Understanding of how to construct training environments that put position players in a position to improve skill and/or talent.
    • Able to cultivate trust and player buy-in.
    • Willing and able to use technology to maximize the effectiveness of programming.
    • Able to develop key takeaways from large amounts of data to identify high leverage areas of development for each player. 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Strong administrative skills.
    • Organized, proactive, and strong communicative skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
    • Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • Experience with SQL, R, Python is a plus, but not required.
    • Fluency in Spanish and English.
