Redwood Credit Union is looking for a DMV Specialist, who will perform a variety of tasks within the Loan Servicing department necessary to ensure perfected vehicle loan security. Provide superior service to Members and organizational partners. In addition to routine processing, the DMV Specialist is responsible for solving DMV transactions of a complex nature requiring tactful communication with Members, dealers, financial institutions, vendors, and state DMV departments for problem resolution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
DMV Processing
• Ability to independently review, analyze, evaluate, and solve complex DMV transactions by applying knowledge of DMV titling process and procedures.
• Release titles to Members upon loan payoff and perform file maintenance on Member accounts as needed.
• Investigate and research incomplete or inaccurate equity and vehicle payoffs that impact credit reporting, vehicle title issues, and equity releases.
• Submit all vehicle/vessel title documents to DMV to ensure RCU is lienholder for secured loans.
• Reconcile DMV refunds and receipts after completion of processing.
• Maintain and identify trends in the paperless title system to ensure all pending liens and errors are completed and correct. Identify opportunities to coach and train business partners on trends identified, and further notify management of status, issues, and proposed resolutions.
• Obtain and analyze California Vehicle Record (CVR) reports for staff as requested.
• Explain the proper use of DMV forms to Members and team members in Consumer Lending Branches and the MSC.
• Perform follow-up on aging, outstanding titles, and work directly with appropriate party (dealer, lienholder, Member, non-Member, the DMV), until the problem is resolved.
• Return titles to Members when received in error from another financial institution.
• Provide assistance to management in completing higher level tasks and projects, including solving complex chain of title issues.
• File Uniform Commercial Codes (UCC) with Secretary of State on collateral as required.

Member/Team Member Support
• Provide exceptional service to all members, volunteers, internal team members, and service providers.
• Provide high-level support and technical assistance to the MSC, FAD, Branches, and other departments, to ensure complete and accurate DMV paperwork is provided.
• Ensure confidentiality and safeguard sensitive Member information.
• Research and resolve Member and team member concerns as directed.
• Represent RCU in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
• Supply Members with accurate information regarding loan products and services.
• Compose and type letters, memos, e-mails and reports for staff as needed.

Minimum Qualification: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Thorough knowledge of personal computers with word processing and spreadsheet software and internet and intranet access.
    • Ability to operate an internet-based DMV title system and pass a LifeScan clearance.
    • Extensive knowledge of California DMV regulations pertaining to titling and release regulations.
    • Knowledge of electronic DMV titling required.
    • Thorough knowledge of modern office administration techniques and methods.
    • Ability to coordinate a variety of activities simultaneously and prioritize work.
    • Ability to act independently and confidentially, using discretion and tact.
    • Ability to operate a telephone system effectively.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people including vendors and other Credit Union team members.
    • Ability and desire to work in a team environment.
    • Ability to analyze situations and recommend solutions.

Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist, and turn.
    • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
    • Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
    • Work environment is indoors; majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.
The ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma with a minimum of three years’ experience processing DMV transactions.

Compensation: Base starting range: $26.00 to $34.00 per hour commensurate with experience.
Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity.
