Redwood Credit Union is looking for a Mortgage Loan Processor I, who will be responsible for planning, preparing and organizing real estate loan documentation to ensure the accuracy and expeditious loan closing while also providing superior Member service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Loan File Management
• Responsible for the timely and accurate coordination, processing and closing of assigned loan files, including opening escrow, ordering appraisals, and reviewing and interpreting automated and manual underwriting findings.
• Review Desktop Underwriter (“DU”) verification messages/approval conditions on first lien loans. Verify the accuracy and integrity of all loan data entered into the system including but not limited to names, addresses, government monitoring information, loan information (i.e. loan amount, interest rate, terms, lock-in expiration dates, assets, income, etc.)
• Request and manage the timely return of required documentation from Members including all third-party documents required for loan approval, including real estate appraisals, escrow and title services, verification of deposits, flood certifications, credit reports, etc.
• Review and analyze all documentation received and determine acceptability.
• Verify income and assets as required in the DU verification messages and RCU procedures.
• Review credit report as needed to address any inconsistencies identified in the DU findings.
• Upload documents into the electronic file cabinet and indicate when each condition is satisfied.
• Review title prior to closing to ensure all exceptions have been cleared.
• Setup loan files for submission to underwriting, including scanning/uploading all necessary documents.
• Identify expired counteroffers and send out Statement of Credit Denial Letters as required.
• Ensure loan files are complete prior to auditing function.
• Ensure confidentiality and safeguard sensitive Member financial information.
• Process to close first and/or second mortgages as necessary to meet funding goals.

Loan Officer Support
• Utilize pipeline management system in conjunction with loan officer to ensure high quality Member service.
• Report daily any problems or concerns with specific loan files.
• Propose new or improved processes that will improve current processing structure.

Member Service and Support
• Provide exceptional service to all Members, volunteers, internal team members and service providers.
• Identify cross sale opportunities that will benefit Member.
• Compose and type general correspondence including emails, letters, memos, faxes and reports for staff and Members.
• Research and resolve Member or team member concerns as directed.

Minimum Qualification: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Skill in the operation of a PC with word processing, spreadsheet, and Internet-based loan origination software.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people including vendors and other Credit Union team members. .
    • Ability to act independently and confidentially, using discretion and tact.
    • Ability to analyze situations and recommend workable solutions.
    • Ability to coordinate a variety of activities simultaneously and prioritize work.
    • Ability and desire to work in and contribute to a team environment.

Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist, and turn.
    • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
    • Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
    • Work environment is indoors; majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.
The ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma, plus a minimum of two years of experience in mortgage lending industry or closely related field.

Compensation: Base starting range: $23.00 to $31.00 per hour commensurate with experience.
Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity.
