This position is exclusively for the 2025 Toronto Refugee Hiring Event. To be eligible to apply, you must meet the following criteria:
- Arrived in Canada as a refugee (government or private sponsorship), applied for asylum after arriving in Canada (refugee claimant/asylum seeker), or were forcibly displaced. This includes individuals from countries such as Ukraine, Afghanistan, Iran, and others.
- Currently reside in the Greater Toronto Area or near the Greater Toronto Area.
- You can attend the event in person in Toronto on October 17th.
- Eligible to work in Canada (you must have Permanent Residency, Citizenship, or a valid work permit).
- 18 years of age or older.

The Key accountabilities are but not limited to
- Constructing, erecting, installing, and removing wood and engineered formwork systems for columns, walls, suspended slabs, slab on grade, and concrete stairs.
- Installation and removal of miscellaneous formwork hardware and accessories.
- Assist in the pouring and finishing of concrete.
- Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, and other temporary structures.
- Ability to use equipment and hand/power tools associated with this work.
- Ability to safely and securely rig loads of various sizes.
- Knowledge of trade-related math and basic survey and layout.
- Ability to correctly interpret blueprints.
- Assist in the Health & Safety program of the project.
- Ability to work at heights.
- General material handling.
- Other tasks as required.
Skill Requirements
- 5+ years of experience
- Red Seal Certificate is an asset.
- General formwork knowledge.
- Good communication skills.
- Motivated to learn and contribute positively to the team.
- Able to conduct oneself in public professionally and courteously.
- Punctual, reliable and accountable.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work full-time and outside of regular hours as required.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outside in all types of weather.
- Site-based position.
- Use of personal protective equipment (i.e. hard hat, safety boots) is required.

$29.60 - $46.93 an hour
