Senior Scientist, Biophysics

Biomolecular Discovery – Biochemistry, Biophysics, Structural Biology
Full-time
The Opportunity
- We don’t just stare hard problems in the face, we go out looking for them. Want to join us? We are seeking a highly motivated, creative and collaborative scientist to join our multidisciplinary Biomolecular Discovery teams to discover the next generation of innovative therapeutics based on protein motion.
- In this role, you will apply cutting-edge biophysical methods to help solve these problems. Biophysics is central to everything we do here, as we use a unique platform that integrates computation, structural biology and biophysics to leverage protein motion for small molecule drug discovery. Are you electrified at the thought of pushing past what you ever thought was possible? Come break the script with us.
Your Role
- You will use multiple biophysical methods, such as SPR, ITC, MST and DSF, to find small molecule leads, characterize screening hits and project compounds, and determine their molecular mechanism of action
- Along with your lab work, we will rely on you to analyze, interpret and present results to project teams
- We will depend on you to develop experimental methods for measuring small molecule: protein interactions and understanding protein conformational dynamics
- We need to stay on the cutting edge and will look to you to help explore and evaluate new biophysical technologies
- You will collaborate and participate in cross-functional teams, while taking on the role as the biophysics representative on project teams
Your Background
- You have earned your MS or PhD degree in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Enzymology or a related field
- You bring at least 2+ years of relevant industry experience. Bringing experience in drug discovery? This is a huge plus
- Do you have a solid understanding of protein structure, biophysics, and/or enzyme mechanism? If you are nodding your head yes, then we would love to speak with you
- It will be critical to have experience with SPR but ITC, MST or fragment screening is also highly desirable
- You are an articulate, open communicator with the ability to analyze, interpret and present data in a clear manner.
- And last but not least, you have an interest in contributing to medicinal chemistry drug discovery efforts to evaluate compound SAR and mode of action characterization
We believe in building balanced teams and a place where our people can be their full self every day. We encourage people from underrepresented backgrounds to apply.

About Relay Therapeutics
Relay Therapeutics is a new breed of company at the intersection of computation and biotechnology that is committed to creating medicines that will have a transformative impact on patients.
We combine unprecedented computational power with leading-edge experimental approaches across the fields of structural biology, biophysics, chemistry, and biology. This integration illuminates – for the first time – the full mobility of a protein and provides key insights into how the dynamic nature of a protein’s conformation regulates function. The team at Relay is putting this principle into practice, with the aim of accelerating the development of medicines that will make a transformative difference in patients’ lives. We don't just stare hard problems in the face. We go out looking for them. Are you energized by attempting to do the impossible? We're looking for you.
At Relay, our team is driven by the ultimate collaboration across each of our drug discovery disciplines. Putting protein motion at the heart of drug discovery is a challenge, but we are confident that our team’s dedication and urgency will create opportunities that deeply impact the lives of the patients. Our initial programs are focused on developing therapeutics in oncology.
