As an Experimental Flight Test Pilot at Reliable Robotics, you will support the Vehicle Integration and Test team.  The Integration & Test team is responsible for all vehicle level installation and test efforts at Reliable Robotics. The team regularly ensures the proper function of mechanical, electrical, and flight control systems onboard the aircraft. In addition, the Integration & Test team has ownership over all ground and flight test operations within the organization. The team is composed of individuals familiar with experience developing experimental and certification products.   

Responsibilities 

In your role as a contract Experimental Test Pilot, you will assist the flight operations team in developing and safely executing flight test plans in support of Research and Development efforts. Your primary role will be to fly the aircraft in an onboard and remote configuration.  You’ll also have the opportunity to affect the Certification of an advanced autopilot system and Remote Ground Station. Throughout the development process, you will be instrumental in the execution of flight tests, data reviews, and proper operation of the system.

Basic Success Criteria

    • 2500 total flight hours - Fixed Wing
    • FAA Commercial Pilot or ATP certificate
    • Currently have or able to obtain, a 2nd Class FAA Medical Certificate
    • Experience conducting tests on programs pursuing FAA Certification
    • 5 years of engineering, flight test, pilot, or other equivalent technical experience
    • Ability to support off-site travel to conduct development and certification flight testing

Preferred Critera

    • C208B Flight Experience
    • 500 hrs Turbo Prop
    • Flight test experience with new Autopilot and FMS Systems
    • Graduate of a Test Pilot School
    • Human-Machine interface design, test and evaluation experience
    • Certified Flight Instructor
    • Flight test experience in autonomous aircraft
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or other technical degree
Experimental Flight Test Pilots at Reliable Robotics will have an opportunity to test our autoflight system from the air, and from the control center. Come help us make this a reality. 

The majority of flights currently take place near Mountain View, CA.  Must be able to support offsite flight testing campaigns in support of research and certification efforts.
