RII is seeking a Senior Operations Subject Matter Expert (SME) who possesses Army Signal domain operational experience. We are looking for a highly qualified individual with extensive knowledge of Army tactical signal, networking systems operations and radio networks, ideally with a relevant experience with operational units from Battalion to Division. The ideal candidate will have leadership, hands-on technical experience and a broad understanding of Army signal operations and equipment at echelons of Division and below. This position will involve collaborating with software product teams to develop capabilities to plan, manage, monitor, configure, and initialize Army and network equipment (commercial off the shelf), radios, applications, and systems.

Additionally, this role will require significant travel to military installations for exercises and other events, allowing for direct engagement with the Warfighter in designing and deploying customized software solutions. You will work directly with the Warfighter to identify their challenges and requirements, collaborate with developers and engineers to create use cases and designs, and actively solicit feedback to ensure the delivery of high-quality software and feature development. Attention to detail, strong analytical and communication skills are crucial for the Senior Operations SME role. 

This position requires a SECRET clearance.

WHAT YOU WILLBE DOING

    • Provide subject matter expertise to support the development and implementation of NetOps software capabilities for the Army’s Tactical Network 
    • Use your understanding of staff roles, functions and organizational structures, to support systems engineering and development activities 
    • Work with operational users to facilitate, understand and record feedback, workflows and needs and feed this back to the development team. 
    • Capture user stories, customer use cases, and draft System Engineering artifacts to understand and document complex user environments and scenarios
    • Identify desired system functionality while validating current and new operational use cases 
    • Work with Army units to understand their network, systems and processes; use that understanding to improve software design and develop TTPs
    • Assess operational challenges faced by users, document findings and provide feedback, and update the system and supporting TTPs accordingly
    • Assist in developing and delivering user and leader training
    • Assist in developing system documentation, embedded system help and user guides
    • Participate in working groups, forums, and analytical activities to support larger business line or program objectives
    • Create and deliver clear and compelling high-quality briefings, documents, conceptual and analytical reports to customers, and larger project teams
    • Effectively translate and communicate relevant complex operational/domain information within your team and cross-functionally 
    • Provide support for operational exercises that reinforce customer training and proficiency in current or developing TTPs

WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

    • 10+ years of relevant experience with operations units from Battalion to Division
    • Served in the military as a Warrant Officer,  Commissioned Officer or senior NCO
    • Served in Army 25, 26, 255 series MOS, Branch or Functional Area
    • Used strong communication skills to effectively interface with military officials, managers, and subordinates
    • Knowledgeable of Army Signal and Tactical Network Operations
    • Experience with Army Tactical communication, networking and IT systems
    • Served in a leadership or technical position at a DIV/BCT, G6/S6
    • Have strong planning, problem solving, analytical, organizational and leadership skills
    • Experience gathering, analyzing, and presenting facts using the appropriate data collection and dissemination tools/techniques
    • Be able to work independently with limited oversight and function effectively as part of a geographically separated team
    • Experience performing tasks with Microsoft productivity software and applications

EVEN BETTER

    • Experience developing Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or other process documents
    • Experience with any or all of the following communication systems to include TRIK, SNN, MBK, TRILOS, SATCOM, MUOS, RF Radios, SILVUS and TSM radios
    • Experience with aspects of network planning
    • Experience with Command Post infrastructure to include TSI, TDI
    • Experience with Army DIV / BCT Planning and Operations processes (MDMP)
    • Experience with Network Defense and cyber security planning and implementation
    • Familiar with systems engineering processes for developing/documenting requirements
