About Revel
At Revel, we are revolutionizing the way the world's most critical hardware is controlled—across aerospace, automotive, energy, and manufacturing sectors. Our next-generation software stack combines an intuitive command/control interface, a specialized programming language tailored for hardware control, and a high-performance runtime environment. We empower engineers to build, test, and deploy critical systems rapidly, reliably, and safely.
Role Overview
We are seeking a technically versatile and self-motivated IT and Information Security Administrator to join our team. This role is ideal for candidates who are comfortable wearing multiple hats—ranging from internal IT support and network administration to cloud tooling management—with an opportunity to take on information security responsibilities based on experience and interest.
This position is critical in helping us scale our infrastructure, support internal teams, and maintain a secure and reliable technology environment in a growing startup.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and administer internal networks, including virtual private networks (VPNs), firewalls, network switches, and wireless systems.
- Procure, configure, and deploy servers, both physical and virtual, by developing standardized configurations and maintaining an inventory of critical hardware components.
- Manage identity and access control across systems and tools, including single sign-on (SSO), identity and access management (IAM), and multi-factor authentication (MFA) systems.
- Provide IT support to team members for workstations, laptops, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), and common productivity tools.
- Procure and manage a mix of cloud-based and on-premises self-hosted services, including:
- Software version control systems, such as GitLab, GitHub, or Bitbucket
- Project management and issue tracking platforms, such as Jira, Linear, or similar tools
- File and object storage systems:
- For production software delivery: services like Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, or MinIO
- For team collaboration and daily use: platforms such as Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or equivalent
- Develop and enforce internal information security policies, best practices, and procedures.
- Monitor systems for security events, perform log analysis, and manage system vulnerabilities.
- Support ongoing risk assessments, compliance initiatives, and internal audits.
- Evaluate, recommend, and help implement security tools and technologies to enhance operational integrity and protect sensitive assets.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in IT systems administration, network operations, or a comparable role.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and services, including Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), VPNs, and Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs).
- Proficiency in Linux server administration, particularly with Debian-based distributions (e.g., Ubuntu).
- Hands-on experience administering cloud platforms for small organizations (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
- Scripting and automation skills, particularly using Bash and/or Python, for routine system tasks and configuration management.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills, especially in environments with limited IT support layers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working autonomously in small teams or startup environments with broad technical responsibilities.
- Familiarity with modern DevOps practices and tools commonly used in software development and deployment pipelines.
- Exposure to information security tools and practices, such as:
- Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems
- Endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks like SOC 2 (System and Organization Controls 2) and ISO/IEC 27001
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with tools for automated provisioning and configuration management, such as Ansible, Puppet, or similar.
ITAR Requirements
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
