Job Summary:
The Payroll/HR Specialist will be responsible for managing payroll functions, handling tax filings, and overseeing various HR duties to ensure compliance with both California and New York regulations. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of payroll and tax processes, and a solid understanding of HR compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Payroll Processing:
Process bi-weekly payroll for employees accurately and on time.
Handle employee timekeeping, deductions, benefits contributions, and adjustments as needed.
Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees.
2. Tax Compliance:
Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Manage quarterly and annual tax filings, including W-2 and 1099 processing.
Stay up-to-date with tax regulations and make necessary adjustments to remain compliant.
3. Financial Administration:
Process and track company bills, vendor payments, and reimbursements.
Ensure timely payment of invoices and maintain accurate records.
Assist with budget tracking and general financial reporting.
4. Human Resources Compliance:
Ensure compliance with Los Angeles and New York employment laws, including labor regulations, benefits administration, and employee rights.
Conduct regular audits to ensure HR policies are up-to-date and compliant with both state and federal laws.
Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire documentation, employee records, and exit interviews.
5. HR Support and Administration:
Serve as the point of contact for employee HR questions and requests.
Assist with benefits administration, performance reviews, and employee relations.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll processing, tax compliance, and HR administration.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar), Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of California and New York labor laws, payroll tax regulations, and HR best practices.
Competencies: Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Other Requirements: Must be based in Los Angeles and have a reliable internet connection for remote work.
