Job Title: Pharmacy Compounding Trainer (Sterile & Non-Sterile)
Location: Houston, TX (On-Site)

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Pharmacy Compounding Trainer to lead the training and development of pharmacy technicians and support staff in both non-sterile and sterile compounding environments. This role will be responsible for designing and delivering hands-on training programs to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, regulatory standards, and best practices. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pharmaceutical compounding and a passion for mentoring and educating others.

Essential Functions:
•Develop, implement, and deliver comprehensive training programs for new and existing staff in sterile and non-sterile compounding.
•Conduct competency assessments and retraining as needed to ensure staff meet required performance standards.
•Provide hands-on instruction in proper weighing, measuring, mixing, labeling, and documentation practices.
•Ensure staff understand and consistently apply aseptic and non-sterile techniques per USP <795>, <797>, and <800> guidelines.
•Teach correct operation, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment such as laminar airflow hoods, biological safety cabinets, and mixers.
•Instruct staff on accurate calculations for ingredient quantities, BUD (beyond-use dating), and batch documentation.
•Support the implementation of quality assurance programs, including monitoring for environmental controls and compounding accuracy.
•Maintain training documentation and records for each technician. 
•Responsible for ensuring ongoing paperwork and certifications for non-sterile and sterile pharmacy technicians are up to date. 
•Serve as the primary liaison between pharmacy leadership, quality assurance, and operational teams for training-related matters.
•Foster a positive learning environment that encourages continuous improvement, teamwork, and high performance.
•Provide ongoing feedback, mentorship, and support to trainees and technicians.

Skills & Attributes:
•Proven experience in both sterile and non-sterile compounding 
•Prior experience in training, mentoring, or precepting staff in a pharmacy setting.
•In-depth knowledge of USP <795>, <797>, <800>, and relevant state/federal regulations.
•Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially in documentation and calculations.
•Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Required Education and Experience:
•High school diploma or equivalent; Pharmacy Technician certified. 
•1-2 years’ experience preferred as a Pharmacy Technician, with specific experience in non-sterile and/or sterile compounding preferred.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a compounding pharmacy environment. This role routinely uses sterile and non-sterile equipment such as laminar flow hoods, powder hoods, electronic balances, and repeater pumps. 

Physical Demands:
This position requires frequent sitting, walking, standing, reading, seeing, speaking, hearing, listening, organizing, interpreting data and information, operating sterile and non-sterile pharmacy equipment, typing using a computer keyboard and mouse, viewing a computer screen monitor and/or tablet with scanner. Some positions may require lifting, occasional bending or kneeling. The working environment consists of an indoor and climate-controlled setting the majority of the time. The employee may regularly lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds
