Senior Process Engineer (Lithography)
Location: FREMONT, CA

As Senior Process Engineer in Lithography, you will be in charge of the development and sustaining activities in optical lithography tools, processes, and development that will be used for building quantum integrated circuits. You will spend your time immersed in the hands-on fabrication of these devices. You will work in a fast-paced environment with a wide range of engineers and scientists in process, integration, design, and quantum engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience in lithography.

Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and drive implementation of solutions to solve key lithography and problems for quantum integrated circuits
    • Develop and implement optical lithography roadmap to support the production of quantum integrated circuits
    • Sustain existing lithography processes and tools
    • A key member of the team to help establish Rigetti Fab as a leading quantum integrated circuit foundry

Additional Responsibilities

    • Day-to-day process duties include sustaining, driving continuous improvement projects, and working with integration and development teams to develop new processes
    • Should be able to organize data, draw correlations from process interactions, and present results in a concise fashion
    • Understand present and future lithography and metrology challenges and requirements and communicate these regularly to management
    • Work with other fab team members, be responsible for tools, material, metrology, and process aspects of the litho modules
    • Establish metrics, monitors, and process controls to run an efficient and predictable lithography process
    • Should be able to work with tool suppliers, maintain high uptime of tools and module
    • Responsible for equipment and process calibration and monitors
    • Show ability to work independently and manage stakeholders; Show ability to deal with ambiguity in defining activities and direction
    • Should have a working knowledge of SPC, root-cause fixes, and application of containment solutions
    • Should be able to establish and submit process requirements to be met in designing and acquiring new equipment
    • Should have good planning skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Understanding of downstream, upstream, and end-of-line interactions with lithography

About You

    • Bachelors with up to 5 years experience, Masters with up to 4 years experience, or a Ph.D. with up to 3 years experience with relevant hands-on experience in physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, materials science, or equivalent background
    • Hands-on experience using lithography tools and related equipment, such as resist coating and development tools
    • Comfortable working in a Clean Room environment, including hygiene protocols and hazmat handling protocols
    • Excellent oral communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
    • A high degree of comfort with the flexible, agile small company environment
    • Detail-oriented, comfortable with a computer-based recipe and wafer tracking systems
    • Experience and comfort with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, also JMP and Google Docs
