Rigetti Computing is building the world’s most powerful computers to solve humanity’s most pressing problems. We believe this technology will fundamentally change the world for the better and will affect nearly every industry over the coming decades. Now a public company, Rigetti is looking to expand its Quantum Engineering team through the addition of an experienced Senior Quantum Engineer.

As a Senior Quantum Engineer, you will lead experimental programs to optimize the performance of our next generation of quantum processors, from concept through execution. Through device modeling, characterization, and analysis, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the technical roadmap across the stack, from integrated circuit design to fabrication to device bring-up and operating point optimization. You will work directly on our most advanced concepts for both quantum processing units and signal delivery technology, taking them from initial prototype to performance at scale, and will be actively involved in identifying and implementing innovative ideas to pursue as we look to scale to thousands of qubits and beyond.

As quantum computing leaders, we value diversity and are committed to building a culture of inclusion to attract and engage innovative thinkers. Our technology, meant to serve all of humanity, cannot succeed if those who built it do not mirror the diversity of the communities we serve. Applications from women, minorities, and other underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged.

What You'll Be Doing:

    • Independently design and execute experimental programs to inform the technical roadmap and drive systems-level improvements
    • Develop measurement techniques to characterize and optimize quantum processors and test platforms, and implement these in our measurement infrastructure using Python
    • Identify, research, and prototype new concepts and technologies for device design, fabrication, and operation, as well as signal delivery and related cryo-RF hardware
    • Collaborate across multiple engineering teams including software, fabrication, electrical and mechanical

What You Bring to the Table:

    • Ph.D. and 3+ years of experience in Physics, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a similar applied scientific field
    • Experience with superconducting qubits, including 1Q and 2Q gates
    • Experience with quantum devices and coherent quantum control
    • Experience with cryo-RF systems including RF and DC signal manipulation (attenuation, amplification, diplexing, etc.) and delivery
    • Proficient in Python
    • Experience with dilution refrigerators
    • Experience with RF measurement techniques
    • Exposure to software engineering best practices
    • Prior technical role in an industry or start-up environment
