RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead, coach and develop a team of corporate accountants, including the provision of regular feedback and completion of performance appraisals;
    • Responsible for the consolidation and elimination process including the review of related reports on a monthly basis, as well as for reforecasts and budgets;
    • Manage and review the work of direct reports to ensure the timely and accurate completion of all reports in accordance with deadlines;
    • Review corporate expenses and revenues, allocations, commodity tax filings and Statistics Canada Reporting;
    • Review various fee billings as required;
    • Prepare and review quarterly G&A variance analysis and various quarterly schedules;
    • Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for corporate business units;
    • Assist with quarterly and annual internal/external reporting including coordination of internal and external auditor requests;
    • Proactively initiate and foster participation in process improvement initiatives;
    • Participate in and foster engagement in cross-training for key tasks and processes;
    • Liaise effectively and collaboratively with other departments regarding accounting matters and respond to transactional accounting questions and issues;
    • Other duties/projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • University Degree in Finance or Accounting;
    • Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant designation required. CPA, CA designation strongly preferred;
    • Minimum 3 years of public company experience at a managerial level required; commercial real estate industry experience strongly preferred;
    • Mid to large-sized audit firm experience preferred;
    • Knowledge of and experience with consolidation and equity-accounted investment accounting required;
    • Minimum 3 years of people management experience required, prior change management experience preferred;
    • Excellent analytical and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deliverables concurrently in a fast paced, deadline driven environment;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact and collaborate with other departments;
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Advanced Excel skills required;
    • Knowledge of Yardi Voyager and Hyperion a strong asset.
