We also operate Open Access Network, a Fiber as a Service offering that helps reduce complexity for developers and telecommunication companies while increasing customer satisfaction.

Business Development Specialist have substantial sales background (typically 2+ years of directly related experience) and have an advanced understanding of internet service provisioning and best practices in the telecommunications industry. They provide strategic support and take part in helping management create decisions for the team.

This level is next in line for managerial roles and may enable other members of the team through mentoring, guidance and training. They should also be spending a portion of their time on tasks or projects that are self-generated based on their own experience and knowledge. 

Job description

    • As an acquisition specialist:
    • Overall project management responsibility for the acquisition of buildings and locations that will be connected to the RISE network
    • Proactively build network and relationships with high-level clients
    • Responsible for identifying new business opportunities, utilizing all lead channels to bring in revenue for the company
    • Ensure all building stipulations on general access and on 24/7 emergency maintenance access are accounted for
    • Remain on top of building requirements, liaise directly with operations teams when necessary
    • Track progress of key site acquisition metrics (i.e building approval, installation status), follow up and/or take charge of expediting when necessary
    • Act as point of escalation for the team
    • Proactively build and develop good working relations with stakeholders (building admins, Sales, SiteOps, NetOps, contractors) to achieve business goals
    • Develop and deploy integrated marketing programs to support key local initiatives (product launches, advertising, events, marketing campaigns & promotions) for client engagement
    • Negotiate with third parties on the commercials for any in-building installation and seek approval prior to installation
    • Enable the acquiring of customers to the RISE network by increasing the number of buildings and locations connected to the RISE network

    • As a relationship specialist:
    • Develop marketing materials
    • Convince building owners of the benefits of the RISE service by developing marketing materials and winning proposals to convince buildings to allow connection to the RISE network
    • Develop the required tools and project manage the adding of buildings to the RISE network
    • Create and maintain a register of buildings to approach for connection and their up to date status (in liaison with the NetOps team)
    • Help identify potential customers in buildings (in liaison with the Sales team)
    • Help determine the potential rollout priority of each building (in liaison with NetOps and Sales teams)
    • Create templates and documents to gather building requirements and coordinate installation and operations teams
    • Gather/determine/negotiate building stipulations on general access
    • Gather/determine/negotiate building stipulations on 24/7 emergency maintenance access
    • Support the installation teams to clear any hurdles or roadblocks or coordination required with the building admin
    • Establish procedures and collateral for new entrants to the building (for example coordination of placing advertising materials)
    • Ensure there is a plan with building admin for new tenants to receive information packs and for RISE to receive new tenant information
    • Build relationships with contact persons and decision-makers in organizations with value to the company
    • Coordinate with engineering to identify and help prioritize areas for network expansion, primarily by developing a business case and representing the commercial interest of the company
    • Lead and/or participate in campaigns and customer acquisition initiatives such as targeting specific buildings, areas, verticals or market segments
