Riverdale's Department of Athletic boasts 85 teams, 170+ coaches, and 7 full time staff. 85% of upper school students compete in athletics. The athletic associate will provide departmental support, with primary responsibilities in athletic training, equipment, uniforms and contest management.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Director of Athletic Training and Safety to maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, and physician’s notes. Complete incident report forms as needed. Communicate injuries and health-related concerns with coaches, parents, and deans.
- Provide coverage at practices and home games, preseason through post-season play.
- Provide assessment, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries in accordance with NYS Athletic Training Practice Act.
- Exhibit behaviors in strict compliance with the NATA Code of Professional Practice.
- Adhere to school injury management, emergency action plans, and concussion management policies.
- Adhere to heat index, wind chill, and thunder and lightning policies.
- Other day-to-day departmental tasks as assigned by the Director of Athletics
- The Athletics Associate/Assistant Athletic Trainer will report to the Director of Athletics, for this 10-month position. The Athletics Associate/Assistant Athletic Trainer will work on daily operational, organizational and procedural duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics, which include:
- Work with Senior Athletic Associate to: Organize, inventory, select, order, issue and receive all team uniforms and equipment. Create a priority rotation for ordering new team uniforms
- Create a capital expenditure equipment list with consideration from the coaching staff
- Work with Senior Athletic Associate to order and issue all Riverdale coaching attire
- Work with Senior Athletic Associate to coordinate day-to-day contest management and create a schedule for game management, ensuring that all games have coverage for essential positions (scorer’s, time keepers, etc.). Coordinate supplemental staff hiring and scheduling for these positions
- Organize student managers to teams, based on priority of essential game management. That includes: student manager training, special events (Homecoming) programming and fan education. Create a pool of college students who can help run contest management
Requirements and Qualifications
- BS in Athletic Training required from an accredited CAATE institution
- Current NATA/BOC certification
- Licensed Athletic Trainer with NYSED Office of Professions
- Certification in Emergency Cardiac Care, as accepted by BOC
$65,000 - $75,000 a year
