Sr. Dyne Motor Lab Technician

This is what you’ll do:
·       Operate the AVL dynamometer using AVL’s PUMA control system
·      Train team members and advise on all AVL equipment
·       Install test motors on the dynamometer.
·       Perform Dyne and Motor Lab maintenance, repair, test setups and tests. Support engineering community.
·       Work with Dyne and Motor Engineers in identifying potential improvements to test methods and lab practices.
·       Design and fabricate Dyne and Motor mechanical fixtures and setups using machine shop equipment.
·       Install, operate and maintain shop and laboratory test equipment and instrumentation.
·       Troubleshoot, root cause, document test data and report the results of lab tests.
·       Procure necessary tools, equipment and components for Dyne and Motor lab operation.
·       Ability to utilize standard tools such as drill motors, soldering, calipers, grinder, and multimeters with no direction.
·       Ability to use instrumentation such as thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, pressure gauges, and flow meters.
·       Ability to use MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
·       Perform occasional moderate lifting.
·       Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices.

This is what you’ll need:
·       Technical degree in automotive or related technologies preferred.
·       10+ years of experience performing Dyne and Motor testing and fabricating special test equipment for automotive powertrain systems preferred.
·       10+ years of experience working in the automotive field with experimental products, components and equipment where work duties follow established standards, specifications and instructions.
·       Preferred strong understanding and experience with AVL / PUMA Dynamometer operation.
·       A strong background and understanding of complex Dyne and Motor mechanical and electrical test equipment setups, testing and processes.
·       Experience using common machine shop equipment and processes.
·       High level of interpersonal and communication skills.
·       Works effectively with teams in a fast-paced development environment.
·       Willing to work flexible hours and passionate about getting jobs done.
·       Hands-on approach: Proactively identifies and fills in gaps where needed.
·       Safety is number one priority.
