Job Description
As a Senior Electronics Engineer, you will be responsible for the integration, testing, and supply chain management of the electronic components and embedded systems of our robots. You will encompass the assembly, validation, and testing of power electronics (battery management system, motor drivers), digital electronics (PCBA validation), firmware, communication protocols, and interfaces. Collaborating closely with mechanical engineers, you will contribute to ensuring the reliable integration and high performance of the electronic systems in our robots. While our Zurich team focuses on early prototyping and control systems, your role in Shanghai will center around optimizing assembling procedures, rigorous testing, and managing the supply chain to ensure robust, production-ready products. This includes direct work with suppliers, PCBA validation, harness optimization, embedded systems debugging, and overseeing small-batch production workflows. We are looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on environment and has a proven track record of bringing electromechanical systems from prototype to production, with a strong focus on quality and supply chain efficiency.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead the integration, assembly, and validation of electrical and embedded systems for our robotic platforms.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure seamless integration of electronics into mechanical assemblies.
- Perform the assembly, review, and testing of PCBs and harnesses; support design improvements and iteration in the context of manufacturability.
- Establish and improve wiring, power, and communication subsystem workflows for small-batch production.
- Identify, evaluate, select, and manage suppliers for electrical components and subassemblies.
- Work closely with contract manufacturers for the transfer of designs and technical documentation.
- Perform thorough testing and troubleshooting of electronic and embedded systems.
- Support continuous improvement cycles across assembly, testing, and deployment phases.
- Document processes, test results, and improvements to ensure traceability and knowledge sharing.
- Coordinate with the Zurich R&D team and local suppliers to implement design updates quickly and reliably.
What you must have
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Embedded Systems, or related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical system development, testing, and low-volume manufacturing.
- Experience in the assembly, testing, and integration of PCBAs for embedded or robotic systems.
- Strong debugging skills for embedded hardware and firmware.
- Familiarity with power distribution, motor controllers, sensors, and communication protocols (CAN, UART, SPI, I2C).
- Proven track record of working with external suppliers and contract manufacturers.
- Experience with quality control and validation of electrical components and assemblies.
- Strong adaptability and comfort with frequent iteration and evolving designs.
- Fluent in Mandarin and English to effectively navigate local and international interactions.
RIVR is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that values every perspective. If you’re passionate about driving innovation in robotics and creating meaningful impact, we encourage you to apply and bring your unique self to our team.
