As an Engineering Manager at Ro, you’ll be a direct contributor to the products and technologies that help us provide accessible direct-to-patient healthcare. Working on the Patient Core Services team, you’ll be leading a team of engineers developing and evolving Ro’s commerce and identity platforms. The team’s scope includes pricing, payment, order management, login/authentication, and a customer data platform. You’ll partner closely with Product, Design, Data, and other engineering teams to define and execute Ro’s technical vision.
What You'll Do:
- Lead a high-performing engineering team focused on building scalable services and systems critical to Ro’s platform
- Develop team members and support their career growth with regular feedback and coaching
- Ensure the team is motivated, engaged, and collaborating effectively with the broader organization
- Partner with Product, Data, and Design to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap
- Establish team goals and metrics that are aligned with the company strategy while maintaining our tech organization’s standards and best practices
- Contribute actively towards the development and health of the larger engineering organization, including culture, innovation, and recruiting
What You’ll Bring:
- 3+ years of engineering management experience
- 5+ years of experience architecting scalable web applications and distributed systems
- Track record of building high-performing, healthy, and sustainable teams that addressed increasingly complex technical and organizational challenges
- Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships across the organization
- Passion for coaching, developing, and managing a diverse teams of engineers
- Excellent communication skills with the desire and ability to adapt to your audience
- Comfort with ambiguity and faced-paced environments, and a drive to actively seek clarity for yourself and the team
Bonus Skills:
- 5+ years of experience delivering impactful systems in a technical leadership role
- Experience with commerce platforms (e.g. pricing, payments, subscriptions, product catalogs)
- Experience with state management and event driven architecture
- Python and FastAPI familiarity
- Experience building systems that integrate with vendors like Stripe and Braintree

The target base salary for this position ranges from $217,600-$256,000 in addition to a competitive equity and benefits package (as applicable). When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. These considerations may cause your compensation to vary.
Ro recognizes the power of in-person collaboration, while supporting the flexibility to work anywhere in the United States. For our Ro’ers in the tri-state (NY) area, you will join us at HQ on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For those outside of the tri-state area, you will be able to join in-person collaborations throughout the year (i.e., during team on-sites).
