Part-Time Onshape Contractor
Location: Remote / Flexible | Estimated 10–20 hours per month
About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Part-Time Onshape Contractor to support our engineering and product teams by managing our Onshape CAD environment and delivering high-quality design plans. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, understands mechanical systems, and can serve as the central coordinator for CAD model structure, version control, user permissions, and documentation.
You’ll play a key behind-the-scenes role in maintaining the quality and consistency of our product design infrastructure, enabling smooth collaboration between internal engineers, external contractors, and field technicians. Your work will help ensure that our robotic flange (un)bolting systems are accurately documented, versioned, and ready for seamless deployment and iteration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the administrator of our Onshape environment, managing user access, version control, and folder structure.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date CAD models, assemblies, and drawings across projects.
- Organize and standardize component libraries and naming conventions for parts and assemblies.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to review model integrity and support the release of design packages.
- Ensure proper documentation is attached to models, including installation instructions, maintenance drawings, and bill of materials.
- Act as a liaison between product development and field support teams to ensure design changes reflect field feedback.
- Train new users (internal and external) on Onshape best practices and workflows.
- Identify and implement improvements to Onshape usage, including template automation or plug-ins.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Strong proficiency with Onshape (required); experience managing CAD platforms in team settings.
- Background in mechanical or industrial design, manufacturing, or robotics preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and a meticulous approach to data and version management.
- Familiarity with industrial environments and mechanical systems (especially piping or automation) is a plus.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to coordinate across remote teams.
