Position Summary:
Based in the Bay Area, the ML Specialist will work to ensure our ML students achieve excellence in speaking, writing, reading and listening. The ML Specialist will work closely  with teachers, school leaders, and the Rocketship regional Multilingual Learner team to implement effective instruction across tiers for Multilingual Learner Students. Specialists are responsible for working with students for additional support and intervention in speaking, listening, reading , writing, foundational skills, and reading comprehension. To do this effectively, the ML Specialist will use formative and summative data from ELPAC to create lesson plans that meet each student’s needs while maintaining close communications with classroom teachers and families regarding the student’s progress. Additionally, the ML Specialists will conduct a deep-dive analysis of annual and Interim ELPAC data, then report the outcomes and action steps to teachers and school leaders on professional development days.

Essential Functions:

    • The essential functions for this role include but are not limited to:
    • Assessment & Progress Monitoring
    • Support with administering ELPAC assessments to ML students
    • Create and implement progress monitoring tools for speaking, listening, reading and writing, then use the tools to document each student's progress on a frequent basis
    • In partnership with SLs and network team, ML Specialist conducts data analysis to create unit level, weekly, and daily action plans that correspond with Rocketship's other formative assessment cycle
    • Participate in Unit Planning/Unit Launch meetings with classroom teachers to ensure integrated ELD strategies is implemented in daily lesson plans
    • Instruction
    • Partner with SL team to ensure the school is a language-rich environment
    • Design daily lessons that instruct students to achieve excellence in speaking, listening, writing, reading, public speaking and presentations
    • Provide one-to-one, small group instruction, designated-ELD instruction, or whole group direct services and push in or pull out instruction
    • Co-teach with general educators and related service providers to ensure effective integrated ELD instruction
    • Partner with Families
    • Report progress to families on a 6-8 week basis
    • Partner with SL team to ensure that family community events and school meetings considers the interests of multilingual learners students

Requirements:

    • Commitment to Rocketship's mission, vision, and goals
    • At least one year of school based experience, previous experience managing and/or teaching groups of elementary-age students is strongly preferred
    • Basic computer skills including troubleshooting and an ability to communicate about technical difficulties
    • Fluency in English and Spanish
    • Bachelor's Degree required
    • EL Certification preferred
    • All Rocketship teachers must have a valid teaching credential or enroll in an accredited credentialing program during their first year at Rocketship. Rocketship will partner with all teachers who need to transfer an out-of-state credential or enroll in a program
