Full Stack PHP Developer

Post: Full Stack PHP Developer
Hours of work: 37½ hours per week
Basic Salary: Commensurate with experience
Responsible to: Lead Developer

About the Role
Daykin & Storey is an established and ambitious digital transformation agency based on the banks of the river Tyne. Proud of our collaborative ethos, inquisitive spirit and technology-agnostic approach. We endeavour to apply robust thinking to every project and use the right tool at the right time. Starting each new challenge with a blank sheet of paper, we work hard to create a genuine full service offering that works for our clients.

Our 22-strong team is a talented and close-knit amalgam of all of the major agency roles: design, development, marketing, account handling and business development. Just at the minute, we’re in need of some additional dev chops.

Our Full Stack PHP Developers perform a key operational role in the D&S team. As well as creating high performing websites and web apps, we work at the cutting edge of technology to design and create bespoke digital products and solutions that resolve challenging business problems.

You will work as part of a Scrum team, managing your own workload alongside an Account Manager, Designer, Developer and Marketers. The role will see you working across a vast range of projects and types of clients. You will be expected to work across both front and back ends to create high quality, standards-compliant code using MVC development models and up-to-date - primarily open-source - content management/ecommerce software. Increasingly we design mobile-first.

We're looking for someone who...
Exceptional OO PHP7 programming skills
Strong experience with MySQL
Extensive experience with at least one major PHP framework such as Zend Framework 3, Symfony 4, Laravel
Experience with version control systems (preferably Git)
Experience in writing new and using existing APIs
Experience with automated testing
Experience with CSS pre-processors, such as SASS or LESS
Good experience with JavaScript (ES6)
Experience with modern JS frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue
Good understanding of Agile methodology and development
A keen interest in emerging tech and the latest trends in development techniques

We’re always looking to stay ahead of the curve, and later on in the year we will be based in Proto, the brand new emerging technology centre, where we will be surrounded by like-minded companies and at the epicentre of tech development in the North East. So if you’re looking to expand your skills and challenge yourself, this could be the role for you. :)
