Rooster Teeth's Studio is a fast paced, rapidly growing team that creates award winning shows and feature length productions targeting gamers, anime fans and a wide range of others for both it’s own web platforms and others including YouTube, Netflix, Go90 and CrunchyRoll. WE ARE looking for a technical artist to bring their creative problem-solving skills and experience to a fast-paced development environment. With main responsibilities including improving and maintaining a production pipeline while seeking out ways to improve efficiency to help develop new techniques, you will be required to brainstorm with leaders of the team to recommend best practices. The Technical Artist will be responsible for setting up character and prop assets in pre-production, making the assets ready for animation. The Technical Artist will also help to finish scenes via compositing in post-production.  We believe passionately in attracting the best and brightest for our team, creating the most engaging and impressive animated productions online or elsewhere (while also having more than a little fun in the process).  A strong candidate will have a proven track record organization, flexibility, and communication skills to help the company fulfill its objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Import/Convert/Create new production assets for the animation team, including rigging characters and objects, in Toon Boom Harmony
    • Perform tasks relating to the compositing process to finish a scene using ToonBoom Harmony and/or Adobe After Effects
    • Develop and test tools, scripts, or plugins to help automate or improve workflow
    • Collaborate with leads and the animation team to design rigs that best fit their needs
    • Troubleshoot issues and address notes from leads’ input
    • Develop content creation guidelines with lead animator and help implement them through tools and reminders
    • Research techniques and technologies that could improve animation production process
    • Complete assignments within the deadline

QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must be willing to relocate to Austin, TX
    • 2 - 5+ years experience as an animation Technical Artist, Technical Director, or in tools programming
    • Experience with character rigging in Toon Boom Harmony 14, including full character turnarounds with deformations
    • Competent in Toon Boom Harmony, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Flash, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe illustrator
    • Flexibility to learn new programs and conform to organizational needs within production
    • Strong artistic abilities, including (but not limited to) strong observation of movement, anatomy, and general knowledge for visual storytelling like composition and color theory
    • Positive team-oriented attitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Must be comfortable working in a highly collaborative team
    • Must be able to accept critique and have the ability to embrace change
