We are seeking a strong and dynamic leader who has extensive experience managing highly detailed projects, and leading teams, and brings a substantial background in EMS operations as an EMT or Paramedic. Experience with special events, festivals, and live entertainment is strongly preferred. This position will spend approximately 50% of its time supporting Royal’s Burning Man Operations and the other 50% of its time managing existing special events business.

This position will serve as a key leader for our special events division. This position will coordinate multiple projects, oftentimes with competing priorities, requiring a high level of attention to detail. This position will be required to spend a three to four week period in the remote Black Rock Desert in an austere environment. This position will embody Royal’s vision, values, and mission.  Exceptional people skills, flexibility, and organizational skills are essential.

The Location for this role will be Hybrid (Remote 60%, San Jose CA 20%, San Leandro 10%, Black Rock Desert 10%)

Responsibilities (Include but not limited to):

    • Provide general initial leadership, management, and oversight to Royal’s Special Events Division.
    • Provide sound organizational and incident leadership in a variety of settings.
    • Handle scheduling, staffing, hiring, and personnel management for special events. 
    • Interfaces with a variety of external stakeholders from private and governmental organizations.
    • Handle general personnel management issues as they arise by applying Royal’s values.
    • Support supply ordering for Special Events
    • Provides patient care at the level of one’s license in accordance with applicable protocols
    • Must possess the ability to demonstrate compassion and a sincere dedication to patient needs, concerns and information confidentiality.
    • Handle protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
    • Participate in company-wide events and meetings
    • Demonstrate and support Royal’s Mission, Values and Quality Standards
    • Performs other such duties as may be required.

Minimum Requirements:

    • Must be 21 Years of Age (for insurance purposes)
    • Experience leading teams of people
    • Experience as a project manager
    • Current EMT or Paramedic licensure/certification
    • TB Test and Immunizations (HepB, MMR, DTap, Varicella)
    • IS 700, IS 800, ICS 100, ICS 200
    • ICS 300 and ICS 400 strongly recommended. 

Preferred:

    • Experience working in special event, live entertainment, and festival environments.
    • Experience working in leadership/command capacities within the incident command system. 
    • Experience operating in remote and austere environments with limited resources and navigating complex logistical challenges.

Physical Requirements:

    • The employee is required to sit; climb or balance; step, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or carry up to 125 pounds and occasionally lift and/or carry up to 200 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Occupational Safety Risk for Infection Control:

    • Risk to exposure from blood borne pathogens – 3 High Risk.
