From its office in Rhode Island, a collaborative group of scientists and engineers is focused on addressing environmental concerns associated search and rescue activities, environmental risk assessments, and supporting regulatory documentation for other governmental and industrial activities such as oil-and-gas developments or others that include hazardous substances. Working with public and private sectors, RPS uses state-of-the art modeling tools developed in-house to identify potential trajectory and fate of vessels, individuals, and contaminants within the environment as well as the potential effects of released contaminants. The successful candidate would work with the team on tasks such as: data preparation and analysis for use in modeling, computational modeling of environmental parameters and/or contaminants in terrestrial, aquatic, estuarine, and offshore environments, the preparation of reports, maintenance of environmental data archives, client assistance related to software and inquiries, and project management support.
RPS is seeking a positive and energetic individual that is interested in supporting RPS large client base who regularly uses our models to solve environmental problems in aquatic, marine, and atmospheric ecosystems. Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in an environmental science or oceanography and familiarity with data analysis and numerical modeling. The candidate must have excellent verbal communication skills in English, proficiency in Spanish, and strong technical writing abilities. Programming (e.g. Matlab/Python/R/Fortran), ArcGIS, proficiency of the MS Office Suite, and presentation skills are highly desirable.
The successful applicant must be self-motivated and detail-oriented with an ability and interest to learn quickly in a very dynamic environment. They will demonstrate logical problem solving approaches with an ability to work on highly dynamic and interactive projects both independently and as part of a team.
Work would include client support, assisting with inquiries, testing of software, maintenance of environmental data archives, analysis of environmental data, and assistance with modeling projects.
