RPS North America provides engineering, environmental, and scientific advice across the US and Canada. We offer a comprehensive range of consulting services and technology solutions to support our clients in all sectors of the economy. We serve as the North American platform of RPS Group, one of the world's preeminent consultancies.
RPS is a global science and technology solutions company. Through consulting, environmental modeling, and application development, RPS helps a diverse client base to investigate their issues of concern and obtain functional answers. For over four decades, RPS has created tailored solutions to support public and private sectors. Combining science and technology, RPS provides modeling tools and environmental data services to assist entities worldwide, to search for and rescue missing people at sea, plan for and respond to spills of contaminants such as oil and chemicals, and assist in other fields associated with environmental analysis.
From its office in Rhode Island, a collaborative group of RPS scientists and engineers is focused on addressing environmental concerns associated with offshore oil and gas exploration and development, the shipment of hydrocarbons through pipelines, and crude-by-rail corridors and facilities. Working with public and private sectors, RPS uses state-of-the art modeling tools developed in-house to identify potential trajectory, fate, and effects of released contaminants in the environment. The successful candidate would work with the team on tasks such as: data preparation and analysis for use in modeling, computational modeling of contaminants in terrestrial, aquatic, estuarine, and offshore environments, the preparation of reports, maintenance of environmental/contaminant data archives, and some project management support.
RPS is seeking an engaging and positive individual with a Master’s of Science (MSc) or equivalent experience in oceanography or other environmental science, to work with applied numerical models.
Previous experience in the application of quantitative analyses of met-ocean datasets (and other model data) to solve environmental problems in terrestrial, aquatic, marine, and/or atmospheric ecosystems is required. The candidate must have strong technical writing and verbal communication skills in English and have experience with numerical modeling (e.g. contaminants, hydrodynamics, atmospheric), data processing/analysis, and programming (e.g. Matlab/Python/R/FORTRAN). Proficiency in MS Office Suite, and presentation skills of complex scientific concepts are highly desirable. Experience with ArcGIS is welcome.
The successful applicant must be self-motivated and detail-oriented with an ability and interest to learn quickly in a very dynamic work environment. They will demonstrate logical problem solving approaches with an ability to work on highly dynamic and interactive projects both independently and as part of a team.
