From its office in Rhode Island, a collaborative group of scientists and engineers serve a vast array of clients worldwide, tackling coastal and marine challenges with applied and practical solutions. Initially developed for the U.S. Coastguard, RPS developed the Environmental Data Server (EDS) to collect a large variety of environmental datasets each day and to distribute them to emergency responders worldwide. The successful candidate would work with the team on tasks such as: data preparation and analysis of metocean datasets for use in modeling, computational modeling of environmental parameters, the preparation of reports, maintenance of environmental data archives, and some project management tasks.
 
To support its international projects, RPS is seeking an individual with a Master’s of Science (MSc) or equivalent experience in physical oceanography or environmental sciences. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, quick learner and detail-oriented; and demonstrate logical problem-solving approach with an ability to work on highly dynamic and interactive projects both independently and as part of a team. The candidate must have excellent verbal communication skills in English, with proficiency in Spanish.
 
The successful candidate is required to have experience in the application of quantitative analyses and assessments of met-ocean datasets to solve environmental problems in aquatic and atmospheric ecosystems. The candidate must also have strong technical writing and verbal communication skills with experience in numerical modeling, if possible hydrodynamics, and programming (e.g. Matlab/Python/R/FORTRAN). Proficiency in ArcGIS, the MS Office Suite, and presentation skills of complex scientific concepts are highly desirable.
