The Project Accountant I supports the revenue generation cycle and is responsible for invoicing, purchase orders, deposits, and cash applications. The Project Accountant I assists with billing rules and monthly revenue entries. Other duties may include supporting contract reviews, project activations, and overall financial activities that measure and monitor project financial performance, and other tasks, as directed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supports the revenue generation cycle by processing client invoices, client deposits, and cash applications.
- Supports the overall portfolio of clients through communication with the Project Team (Project Accountants, Business Development, Proposals, Activation Administrators, Resourcing, Project Management) & investigating financial inquiries, as requested.
- Processes project timesheet and invoice adjustments, escalating to management when necessary.
- Supports the Proposal process by assisting with financial contract reviews, including project estimation review and support, as assigned.
- Supports authorization of final project activation based on client contracts and client relationship status, escalating to management when necessary.
- Reviews project details to ensure accuracy of data and alignment between systems.
- Calculating current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses, as requested.
- Identifies and supports process improvements within assigned projects and activities.
- Undertakes special projects as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor level degree in Accounting, Finance, or another Business-Related field required.
- Minimum 0+ years related work experience.
- Desire to participate on a cross-functional team.
- Must possess strong written and oral communication skills and be able to prepare and analyze financial information.
- Must have excellent Excel skills.
- Must be capable of exercising good judgment in areas of moderate complexity when the situation warrants.
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- High level analytical capabilities.
- High math competency level; very detail oriented.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Ability to communicate (both written and verbal) effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Self-starter and motivation to accomplish tasks with direction.
- Computer skills required: Microsoft Office applications. Salesforce, NetSuite and OpenAir a plus.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to support multiple projects.
