The Finance Director is responsible for developing Finance as the decision-support system for the organization, development of employees, a variety of financial functions including financial planning, budgeting processes, and identifying risks and opportunities.  Responsibilities also include analyzing financial statements and reports, developing financial models, preparing projections, performing research and analysis, providing novel and insightful analysis and recommendations, and advocating for data-based decision making.  Key strengths include strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, the ability to present financial information and models in a concise and easily comprehensible manner.

Responsibilities:

    • Provides analysis for forward-looking financial and business-related projects. Analyzes financial and non-financial data to help drive business decisions. 
    • Prepares forecasts and analysis of identified trends and developments.  Presents findings and recommendations to senior management.
    • Serves as finance business partner, broadly across the organization interfacing with various levels of organization to understand key business drivers, recommend new business drivers, and provide novel and insightful financial analysis / decision support. 
    • Identify and lead process improvement matters related to monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, and long-term strategic planning with a strong emphasis towards scalability, sustainability, and best practices while balancing the constraints of expediency.
    • Drive and review monthly forecast, annual budgeting, and long-term strategic planning processes for responsible business area(s) with an ability to identify patterns and risks and opportunities beyond manager level.
    • Utilize statistics, trends, and large data sets to identify expense patterns to increase forecast / financial accuracy.  Identify revenue and expense risks and opportunities. Develop recommendations to mitigate risks and enhance opportunities, including alternative paths forward and investment opportunities.
    • Create the expectation in the Finance department and the organization at-large that Finance will serve as the data-based decision support system for the company. 
    • Undertakes significant special projects as assigned and able to make recommendations to ensure appropriate departmental support. 
    • Finance Directors take a key role in ensuring the development of employees.  Development will include advanced financial analysis, coaching empowerment to enact strong continuous process improvement actions in all they do, task prioritization to focus on high value add products, and identifying risks and opportunities for the business. 
    • This position does have supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements:

    • Bachelor level degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar degree, required; Master’s degree preferred.
    • 15+ years related work experience.
    • 6 years’ experience as a Finance Manager and/or Sr. Finance Manager strongly preferred.
    • Experience leading significant special projects.
    • Demonstrable ability to develop personnel broadly including financial modelling skills, executive presence, and broader.
    • Service Industry experience preferred.
    • Must have experience managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Must have excellent Excel skills, including data mining and data analysis.
    • Must be capable of exercising good judgment in areas of high complexity when the situation warrants.
    • High level analytical capabilities with a record of successful accounting experience.
    • High math competency level; very detail oriented.
    • Must be able to work independently.
    • Ability to communicate (both written and verbal) effectively with all levels of the organization.
    • Self-starter and motivation to accomplish tasks with minimal direction.
    • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office applications. NetSuite and OpenAir a plus.
    • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects.
