The School of Health and Public Safety at SAIT prepares students for a dynamic career in the health care sector. We offer specialized training in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, professional assistant programs, information management, and training for wellness professionals. Our programs are hands on, with students and instructors immersed in living classrooms and simulated training.
The Opportunity
As an Educational Technologist in the Dental Assisting Program, you will support instructors and students, manage dental clinic operations, and help maintain a safe, efficient, and high-quality learning environment. Your expertise in equipment calibration, laboratory and clinical procedures, and quality assurance will directly impact student success and program excellence.
The Role
- Oversee all patient clinic operations (January–May), including bookings, course materials, and office management.
- Work effectively under time pressure and frequent interruptions.
- Ensure decontamination and infection control, following Alberta standards.
- Manage biohazard materials (stocking, disposal, storage) per legislation and institute procedures.
- Assess and recommend new equipment and supplies.
- Order supplies and equipment; maintain accurate records.
- Maintain and troubleshoot dental instruments and clinic equipment.
- Develop and improve clinical and lab methods and procedures, independently and with instructor guidance.
- Model professionalism to support a safe learning and working environment.
- Contribute to program quality improvement initiatives.
- Support SAIT’s mission, strategic, and academic plans.
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Dental Assistant or Registered Dental Hygienist.
- Minimum two years of clinical experience in a similar capacity; post-secondary experience is an asset.
- Intermediate to expert proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; experience with Dentrix software is an asset.
- Strong time management, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment.
- Ability to stand for long periods and occasionally lift heavy instruments.
- Previous post-secondary experience.
