The Opportunity
The School for Advanced Digital Technology at SAIT offers an exciting and diverse range of programs from cybersecurity to software development and beyond, our diverse offering of career programs positions graduates for success by providing learning experiences that are relevant, skills-oriented, and applied in the real world.
Reporting to the Academic Chair, the Business Intelligence Program Instructor will professionally manage the learning process of the students and ensure that students achieve established learning objectives to the maximum of their potential. This requires resourcing materials, methods, techniques, and strategies to ensure student success and outcomes are met.
This role requires collaborative work with colleagues to create a learning environment which is pedagogically sound, technically supported, and innovative in nature.
Note: SAIT, as a post-secondary institution, serves a diverse student population. Therefore, instructional duties may occasionally be required during early mornings, evenings, and weekends. If selected, specific scheduling arrangements will be discussed between you and the leader.
The Role
- Prepare and deliver lessons, assignments, quizzes, exams, activities, tutorials, demonstrations, and labs.
- Present course material in an engaging, interactive, and learner-centered manner.
- Integrate personal industry experience into lesson planning and delivery to enhance relevance and depth.
- Maintain accurate records for grading, professionalism assessment, and attendance tracking in both theory and lab settings.
- Ensure organized and concise record keeping and file management.
- Manage classroom and lab environments to foster a positive and productive learning atmosphere.
- Demonstrate personal interest in learners and create a climate conducive to optimal learning.
- Deliver course content creatively and effectively to support diverse learning styles.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and relatable support to learners.
- Maintain and develop curriculum to align with current industry standards and best practices.
- Understand and embody the program’s vision, values, and goals to ensure ongoing relevance of course content.
- Actively participate in team meetings and collaborate with the Academic Chair and instructional staff to enhance the learner experience.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
- 3 – 5 years of industry experience in intermediate to senior roles focused on data analysis or data engineering.
- 1 – 3 years of experience in teaching, training, coaching, or mentoring others.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver complex technical topics in a clear and engaging manner.
- Microsoft certifications such as Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Fabric Data Engineer Associate, Azure Fundamentals are required.
- Additional certifications in Tableau, AWS QuickSight, IBM, or Google would be an asset.
- Proficient in advanced SQL, Python/R, Excel, and analytics frameworks.
- Skilled in Visualization and BI Tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Experience with Data Modeling, Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, Data Cleaning, Preparation, and Pipelines.
- Familiarity with Cloud Platforms, Version Control, and AI-driven BI features.
- Adaptable to feedback and able to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
