The Opportunity

The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) is a world-renowned institution that provides applied education, fosters excellence, and is committed to diversity and inclusivity. SAIT's School of Construction is seeking a temporary salaried instructor to join our team and take the electrical courses within the Refrigeration Mechanic Apprenticeship program to the next level.

As an instructor at SAIT, you will create a supportive and innovative learning environment, utilizing existing curriculum resources and various instructional techniques to foster learning and personal development. This role offers the opportunity to inspire the next generation of skilled tradespeople while contributing to SAIT’s vision of becoming a global leader in applied education.

The Role

    • Design and deliver engaging lessons for first-, second-, and third-year electrical courses within the Refrigeration Mechanic apprenticeship program.
    • Develop teaching and learning plans and assessments to support learner success.
    • Provide ongoing support and guidance to students, evaluate their progress, and ensure their achievement aligns with apprenticeship outcomes.
    • Actively participate in promotional activities such as SAIT’s Open House.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to foster a team environment and ensure program excellence.

Qualifications

    • We are seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic professional eager to share their expertise and contribute to the success of apprentices.

    • To excel in this role, you must:
    • Hold a minimum Alberta Journeyperson Certificate and Red Seal in Refrigeration.
    • Have a strong electrical background—a dual-ticketed Electrician with a minimum of five years experience is preferred.
    • Demonstrate at least five years of experience as a Refrigeration Mechanic Journeyperson, ideally in diverse installation and service environments.
    • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Be adept at working collaboratively within a team and maintaining ethical standards.
    • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and presentation software.
    • Bring prior experience in teaching or training within adult education.

Salary Range: $70,183 - $88,817
