This is a new role at SAIT, initially reporting to the Vice President, People and Culture. The Wellbeing Specialist will be responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive wellbeing strategy for the institution. The Specialist, will design, develop, and manage initiatives that improve the overall wellbeing of our employees, encompassing not just mental and physical health but also financial wellbeing, career development, and community engagement.
 
The successful candidate will have a strong background in health promotion, employee wellness programs, and organizational behavior, and will be adept at creating strategies that support a holistic and systems approach towards employee wellbeing.
 
As a key strategic lead within the People and Culture team, the Wellbeing Lead plays a vital role in shaping a culture of holistic wellbeing at SAIT. This position is responsible for leading the development and enterprise-wide integration of a comprehensive wellbeing strategy that aligns with SAIT’s institutional goals, workforce trends, and future-of-work priorities.
 

The Role

    • Strategy Development & Program Management
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive wellbeing strategy aligned with SAIT’s goals and culture.
    • Create initiatives focused on various aspects of wellbeing, including physical, mental, financial, career and community wellbeing, ensuring they are responsive to evolving employee needs.
    • Design and manage wellbeing programs and initiatives that address the diverse needs of employees at different life stages, using data insights and future trends
    • Regularly assess the effectiveness of wellbeing programs through surveys, feedback, and data analysis; translate findings into action items to optimize outcomes.
    • Provide support during crises or emergencies, offering resources and guidance to employees in need
    • Integrate wellbeing in the broader organization culture to create a more resilient workplace.
    • Coordinate with internal and external resources to manage critical incidents.
    • Ensure all wellbeing programs comply with relevant laws, regulations, and SAIT policies, while also incorporating equity-centered approaches to wellbeing.
    • Prepare reports and presentations on well-being metrics and program outcomes for senior management, providing actionable insights and strategic recommendations
    • Apply strategic foresight to anticipate emerging trends in employee wellness and recommend scalable, future-ready interventions.
    • Lead cross-functional wellbeing strategy planning and execution across departments, integrating with broader institutional initiatives.

    • Leadership & Collaboration
    • Inspire and cultivate a culture of wellbeing champions within SAIT by providing mentorship and aligning them to strategic goals.
    • Act as a strategic liaison between HR, management, student wellness, health & safety, and other stakeholders to ensure wellbeing initiatives are effectively integrated.
    • Create a holistic and impactful employee experience working with the Total Rewards Team in HR to align wellbeing programs with compensation and benefits strategies, and financial wellness initiatives.
    • Develop partnerships with community partners, external experts and resources to enhance the scope of wellbeing programs. 
    • Partner with teams across various departments to align wellness initiatives with strategic plan, providing guidance and support on wellness initiatives.

    • Education & Communication 
    • Design & implement training sessions, workshops, and seminars on various wellbeing topics, including financial literacy, career development, and community engagement.
    • Develop training for leaders to understand and identify a broad spectrum of wellbeing issues within their teams.
    • Lead the development and distribution of comprehensive wellbeing communication materials, including newsletters, posters, and digital content.
    • Advocate workplace practices and policies that support holistic employee health and wellbeing, including community involvement and financial stability.

Qualifications & Experience

    • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Public Health, Health Promotion, Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, or a related field.
    • Preference for candidates with certifications such as Certified Human Resources Professional (CPHR), or Certified Health and Wellness Coach (CHWC)
    • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in employee wellness, health promotion, occupational health, human resources, organizational development, or a related field.
    • Proven track record in developing and implementing holistic wellbeing programs that address physical, mental, financial, and career wellbeing.
    • Experience in leading and coordinating initiatives that foster community engagement and support a diverse workforce.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze and use data to assess program effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.
    • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including HR, benefits, health and safety, and external vendors.
    • Empathetic and approachable with excellent interpersonal skills to support a diverse employee population.
    • Experience in delivering training, workshops, or educational programs related to wellbeing, financial literacy, or career development.
    • Experience with program design and implementation, including developing initiatives that target diverse aspects of employee wellbeing.
    • Familiarity with financial wellbeing concepts, such as financial planning, literacy, and resources that support employees' financial health.
    • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
    • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to employee wellbeing, including mental health, occupational health and safety, and benefits administration.
    • Competency in using digital tools and platforms to enhance employee engagement in wellbeing programs, such as wellness apps or online resources.
Job classification:  Senior Human Resources Advisor
Salary range: $114,120.00 - $139,480.00
Paid Leave: 4 Weeks' Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year
Hours Per Week: 37.5
