The Opportunity
Reporting to the Associate Dean - Aviation and Technology, the Academic Chair will lead a portfolio of educational programs within the School of Manufacturing and Automation. You will oversee the development and delivery of curriculum to adult learners, and nurture relationships with industry partners to ensure high quality, relevant curriculum. Additionally, you will propel continuous improvement activities and entrepreneurial thinking to establish the school as the premiere educational institution in Alberta.

The Role
- Lead academic excellence in the areas of teaching, curriculum, credentials, and innovation.
- Optimize the student experience through management of learner satisfaction, enrollment and other key performance indicators.
- Support stakeholder and market focus through new program and growth opportunities.
- Develop, maintain, and grow connections with external and internal stakeholders in, and across SAIT.
- Ensure that teaching excellence is supported, monitored and measured.
- Empower faculty members to feel passionate about SAIT, providing ongoing support and coaching including fair/transparent performance management.
- Manage administration requirements of the program, including budgeting, forecasting, recruiting faculty and students, assigning teaching duties, etc.
- Ensure consistency in the application of SAIT policy and procedures, collective agreements and work practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Designation as a Certified/Professional Engineering Technologist or Professional Engineer, or an advanced degree in a related field (master’s preferred).
- Experience with quality systems and building and maintaining positive relationships with external stakeholders such as TAC, NRCan, and the CWB.
- A broad understanding of current and emerging trends in engineering technology and non-destructive testing.
- Strong prioritization and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Strong financial and business acumen, with a track record of operational management.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively coach, mentor, and support employees.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary range: $97,930.00- $133,495.09
Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year
Hours Per Week: 37.5
