The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Marketing and Recruitment, you will act as a SAIT brand ambassador and work as part of a dedicated action team that supports student recruitment activities for SAIT. The ideal candidate is fiercely focused on customer service and brings a great deal of enthusiasm and energy into this support role. As a Student Marketing Assistant, you’ll help the team with the coordination and administration of activities for recruitment events, connect with prospective students and key influencers (family members, school counsellors, community members, etc.), to promote SAIT through high school visits, on-campus events, and career and education fairs in Calgary and surrounding areas. This position will also provide information and guidance regarding program offerings, admission requirements, and registration information to prospective students and applicants. In collaboration with the Recruitment Marketing Specialist, the Student Marketing Assistant also supports the planning and implementation of a variety of campus recruitment events such as open houses, group tours, mail-outs and electronic communications with prospective students, applicants, families and school counsellors.
The Role
- Recruitment Marketing - 100%
- Act as a SAIT brand ambassador and peer recruiter at SAIT recruitment events including info sessions, school presentations and open houses.
- Lead campus tours, both virtually and in-person.
- Support all tactical and logistical aspects of events including, but not limited to: researching and scheduling rooms/venues, event logistics, email and web updates, catering/hospitality, decor, entertainment, supplies and promotional items.
- Respond to program and general inquiries from current and prospective students in person, by email or phone and triages the appropriate staff when required.
- Evaluate attended recruitment initiatives by reporting prospective engagement, lead generation, number of publications provided, event attendance, and other meaningful notes describing the purpose and utility of the event for evaluation and future planning purposes.
- Be part of a team committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion by working with a diverse group of students and visitors.
- Be available to work weekends and evenings during scheduled events and tours.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Must be a current SAIT student who has completed at least one semester of study, is available to work up to 32 hours per week and is in good academic standing. Recent SAIT graduates (within one calendar year) may also apply.
- The hours of work for this position will be varied, including a requirement to work evenings and weekends.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg.
- Skills Required:
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Comfortable making presentations to large groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with diverse groups of people.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, colleagues, school administrators.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment with competing priorities and quick deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willing to travel and work evenings and weekends as required.
- Experience in using Freshdesk is considered an asset.
- Familiarity and demonstrated understanding of software/tools:
- Virtual Event Software (example: Zoom, Eventbrite)
- Google Analytics
- MailChimp (or similar email marketing tool)
- Working-level skills with the Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge
- This position requires an in-depth, up-to-date knowledge of SAIT campus, SAIT’s schools and academic programs, admission requirements, student support services and student life.
- Knowledge of SAIT policies and procedures is an asset.
- This position may require occasional travel within Calgary, and Alberta, targeting select high schools, colleges, and special events to recruit prospective students via presentations and one on one interactions, including driving to local and rural Alberta recruitment events.
