Sana’s vision is to make healthcare easy.

All of us can agree healthcare is simply too hard in the US. And our members feel that pain day in and day out. We aim to create an experience that simply feels easy when you need to access our healthcare system. If you need something, you know where to go to get it with care that is a click (or as few clicks as possible!) away.

What’s beautiful about a vision oriented toward “easy” is how it imparts a singular feeling. We instinctively know as humans when something is easy versus hard, even if we can’t explain why. We fight as a company to make an easy pathway available to all our members at every stage of their healthcare journey. If you feel passionate about delivering better healthcare to small businesses through a seamless care experience and affordable benefits, join us!

We are seeking a Head of People to own the entire end-to-end employee experience, including talent acquisition, compensation planning, benefits, compliance, engagement, performance, recognition, career-pathing, retention, and company culture. You will be an integral member of the senior leadership team, reporting to the President & Chief Operating Officer and partnering closely with the CEO and executive team to keep building a high-impact team as the company scales. The ideal candidate brings a passion for attracting and retaining top talent while fostering a culture that promotes a growth mindset, humility, drive, collaboration, and inclusion. We are looking for a strong leader with innovative ideas who also isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to support our organization.

We are building a distributed team and encourage all applicants to apply, regardless of location.

What you will do:

    • Own the strategic vision for our People function at Sana. You will lead a critical aspect of Sana’s business and work cross-functionally to ensure we maintain a high-performance culture across our organization.
    • Lead and continue to build over time a lean, high-performing People team; develop and foster plans for your team members’ continued career growth through regular coaching, consistent 1:1s, feedback sessions, and Q&A.

    • Talent Development. Build and maintain clear, scalable career pathways and leveling frameworks across the organization. Ensure employees have visible opportunities for continuous professional growth and equip managers with the tools and training to support career development.
    • Performance Management. Champion our company performance philosophy and guide leaders across the company on organizational design, professional development, leadership best practices, employee engagement, retention strategies, performance measurement, succession planning, and overall coaching.
    • People Operations. Manage and optimize our people systems, processes, and policies. Serve as the "center of excellence" for every moment in the employee lifecycle and the go-to for employee questions while ensuring clear, consistent internal communications around policies, programs, and People initiatives.
    • Compensation & Benefits. Keep building and refining a transparent total compensation program informed by industry benchmarking, tailored to Sana’s remote culture, competitive within the market, and meets business requirements and budgets.
    • People Data Insights. Identify, track, and report on key performance indicators for recruiting, retention, DEIB, compensation, performance, engagement, and other critical metrics that align to broader business objectives and priorities.
    • AI-Forward Culture. Support a company-wide shift toward AI-enabled ways of working by fostering an open, curious mindset; equipping employees with training and resources; and embedding responsible AI practices into everyday workflows to ensure all teams are set up to thrive in an AI-driven future.
    • Champion the employee experience by creating meaningful opportunities for connection and belonging, including organizing team gatherings, company retreats, and cultural initiatives that celebrate and support Sana’s employees.
    • Work closely with the Finance team across a range of programs, including compensation planning, performance cycles, equity management, payroll, benefits planning, budgeting, IT procurement, and compliance.
    • Ensure compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements.
