SAR High School, located in Riverdale New York, is a mission-driven, co-educational, modern Orthodox Jewish high school committed to student-centered learning in a challenging and supportive environment. Our strong and dynamic Design Engineering Department is seeking a full time highly qualified teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching coding, Javascript, C++, Python, Java, as well as have experience in Arduino, Raspberry Pi, building circuits, Machine Learning, 3D printing, laser cutting, and robotics preferable with experience in the First Tech Challenge League.

Responsiblities

    • Create engaging lesson plans that scaffold the skills necessary for students to build quality electronic and mechanical devices which utilize the Arduino or Raspberry Pi microcontroller
    • Teach and assess student learning in the areas of coding, Javascript, C++, Python, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, building circuits, 3D printing, laser cutting, and robotics.
    • Develop and implement hands-on projects and activities that encourage creativity and innovation in the classroom.
    • Use a variety of instructional techniques to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
    • Maintain a positive and safe learning environment in the classroom that is both rigorous and fun.
    • Collaborate with the other teachers in the department to strategize about the best direction to guide students in the building of their robots and microcontroller based projects.
    • Keep accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and administrators.
    • Attend professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with best practices in education related to both industrial design and engineering.
    • Help maintain and organize all of the materials, electronic components and mechanical parts in the classroom and fabrication lab.

Qualifications

    •  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
    • Valid teaching certification or eligibility for certification in the state preferred but not required.
    • Experience teaching coding, Javascript, C++, Python, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, building circuits, 3D printing, laser cutting, and robotics to high school students.
    • Familiarity with 21st-century learning tools and technology.
    • Strong classroom management, communication, collaboration and organizational skills
