Part-Time Gr. 1-5 Art Teacher
SAR Academy, a Modern Orthodox, co-educational day school in Riverdale, NY, is now accepting resumes for a part-time art educator with 3+ years of teaching art to elementary age students, grades 1-5. This is a part-time position.
Responsibilities:
-Manage art classroom effectively
-Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering, and art history
-Teach students in a fair, warm, and open-minded environment with differentiated learning
-Approach teaching art with warmth, enthusiasm and creativity
-Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting
-Understand a variety of “masters” techniques
-Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students
-Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment
-Organize storage areas and control use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection
-Evaluate each student’s performance and growth
-Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students’ work for the school and the community
Qualifications:
-A minimum of 3 years of teaching art to elementary age students, grades 1-5
-Diverse skills as an artist and with various media
-Comfortable with team collaboration
-Experience with curation of student work
-Ability to work on school-wide art installations
-Exhibits strong ability to build connections with students, to develop an atmosphere of respect and empathy, and to build an inclusive classroom community
-Approaches problem-solving in a positive, creative, and encouraging manner

$60,000 - $70,000 a year
Salary range is for a Full Time teacher. Actual salary will be prorated based on actual teaching needs and periods hired for.
