Job Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering R&D Co-Op to join our innovative team for a 6 month duration for summer through fall of 2025. This role is perfect for a proactive individual with a solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles and a keen interest in research and development, particularly in the realm of advanced technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with our Mechanical Engineering team to support the design, analysis, and testing of cutting-edge mechanical systems. This position offers the chance to engage in hands-on projects, assist in developing new solutions, and contribute to the advancement of our technologies. As an intern, you will be mentored by experienced engineers, gaining valuable insights and practical experience while collaborating on cross-functional projects.

Responsibilities

    • Assist with Design and Development by supporting the Mechanical Engineering team in designing and developing advanced mechanical systems and components, including creating and refining technical drawings and specifications.
    • Engage in research activities to explore new technologies, materials, and methods that can be applied to ongoing projects or new innovations.
    • Assist in setting up and conducting tests on prototypes and mechanical systems, analyze results, and contribute to the evaluation of system performance and reliability.
    • Support Prototyping and aid in the fabrication and assembly of prototypes, using various methods such as machining, 3D printing, and sheet metal work, to validate designs and concepts.
    • Work with various teams across the organization to integrate mechanical systems with other engineering disciplines and contribute to multidisciplinary project efforts.
    • Develop and Refine Solutions by helping in the development of new solutions and improvements for mechanical systems by applying engineering principles and creative problem-solving skills.
    • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of research findings, design changes, test results, and project progress, and report status updates to the engineering team and management.
    • Learn and Apply Engineering Tools by utilizing and gaining proficiency in engineering software and tools for design, analysis, and simulation, as well as applying industry best practices in engineering.
    • Take advantage of hands-on learning opportunities, working closely with experienced engineers to gain practical insights into mechanical engineering and research and development processes.

Qualifications

    • High School diploma or GED and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
    • Ability to commit for a 6 month duration during the spring through summer time period, or summer through fall time period.
    • Ability to travel as needed.
