Job Overview 
We are seeking a talented and motivated Naval Architect Intern to support the design, analysis, and development of autonomous surface vessels. This role will provide hands-on experience in traditional naval architecture and advanced autonomous technologies; driving impact in defense innovation.

Responsibilities

    • Assist in the design, development, and analysis of vessel hull forms, structures, and systems for ASVs
    • Conduct hydrodynamic and stability calculations, including resistance, propulsion, and maneuvering simulations
    • Collaborate with senior engineers to perform CAD modeling, structural design, and weight management for vessel optimization
    • Support the integration of autonomous navigation and control systems into vessel designs
    • Assist in conducting model tests and validation in collaboration with engineers and programmers
    • Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions for new and existing vessel concepts
    • Research and stay updated on new developments in naval architecture, autonomous technology, and defense requirements
    • Support documentation, technical writing, and preparation of reports for internal use and client presentations

Qualifications

    • Currently pursuing a degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a related field
    • Basic knowledge of naval architecture principles, including ship design, stability, and hydrodynamics
    • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., Rhino, AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and simulation tools (e.g., Orca3D, ANSYS, or equivalent)

Physical Demands

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.  
    • Occasional standing and walking within the office.  
    • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.  
    • Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports.  
    • Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies.  
    • Lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages).
