Job Overview

We are seeking a Systems Engineer responsible for the forefront of designing, integrating, and optimizing complex systems within our autonomous surface vessels. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless interaction between hardware, software, sensors, and overall vessel functionality.

Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, architectures, and interfaces for autonomous surface vessels
    • Develop and maintain system engineering documentation, including functional specifications, requirements traceability matrices, and system design documents
    • Lead the integration of hardware and software components, ensuring compatibility and coherence of the overall system
    • Design and implement testing procedures to validate system functionality, performance, and safety
    • Analyze and mitigate system risks, identifying potential failure modes and devising appropriate solutions
    • Work closely with hardware and software engineers to ensure proper integration of sensors, actuators, communication interfaces, and control algorithms
    • Drive continuous improvement by identifying areas for enhancement in system performance, reliability, and efficiency
    • Support the development of technical proposals, system architecture diagrams, and project timelines
    • Collaborate with external partners and vendors to procure components and technologies for system integration
    • Contribute to a culture of innovation and excellence by staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies

Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred
    • Experience as a Systems Engineer, preferably within autonomous vehicles, robotics, or maritime systems
    • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements analysis, architecture design, integration, verification, and validation
    • Proficiency in modeling and simulation tools, such as MATLAB/Simulink, to evaluate system performance
    • Experience with system-level testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of complex electromechanical systems
    • Familiarity with sensor integration (LiDAR, RADAR, GPS, IMU, cameras) and communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, serial communication)
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address challenges in a creative and innovative manner
    • Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment and manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
