We’re in an exciting phase of growth and are looking for a Group Accountant to be based in Hobart, Tasmania. This is a high-level finance role, responsible for providing specialised financial services to the business as a whole, as well as supporting processes and initiatives that enable us to scale.

The role.

You'll be working within our Finance Department, which sits within the Operations business unit. You'll report directly to our Head of Finance, Cassi Lambert. On a day to day basis, you'll work closely with all members of the Finance Department, including the CFO, as well as our Business Support team, and members of the wider Operations team.

This is a specialised role that requires formal CA/CPA qualifications. Outside of those qualifications, we value people who are self-motivated, results driven and who are excited about the challenges involved in future-proofing a rapidly scaling global business.

What you'll do

    • Oversee accounts payable and month end processes
    • Manage Fringe Benefits Tax liabilities and reporting
    • Manage research & development tax calculations
    • Management of leases (AASB16)
    • Preparation and assistance with annual audit, budgets and cashflow forecasts
    • Reviewing statutory lodgements such as BAS, Payroll tax
    • Management of inter-entity arrangements
    • Payroll administration
    • Preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, consolidated financial statements and calculation of income tax
    • Assist with various operational projects and business improvement initiatives
    • Build on or improve current processes
    • Collaborate with external stakeholders including auditors and external tax advisors

Skills

    • CA/CPA qualified
    • Strong focus on and eye for detail
    • Organised and process oriented
    • 5 years experience in a similar role or public practice
    • Adaptable and analytical with an interest in providing solutions to complex problems
    • Ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders in a clear and approachable manner

In 1-3 months, you will...

    • Complete the Procreate onboarding process and get to know your colleagues
    • Build an understanding of our financial practices, processes and tax frameworks
    • Familiarise yourself with our group structure, inter-entity relationships and financial position
    • Begin to develop relationships with key stakeholders, team leaders and members of the executive team

In 3-6 months, you will...

    • Establish relationships with inter-departmental key stakeholders
    • Prepare and support the execution of key finance projects
    • Begin identifying areas for operational improvement and take ownership of first initiatives

In 6-12 months, you will...

    • Participate in conversations surrounding forward planning of Finance initiatives and strategies
    • Routinely assign tasks and oversee the whole of accounting function

$85,000 - $130,000 a year
