Research Engineer | Mathematical Optimization (Any)
Scape seeks to unify human-machine understanding by connecting the physical and digital world.
As a research engineer in mathematics you will be responsible for applying extensive knowledge of mathematical optimization to the computer vision problems that we are tackling. This can range from non-linear optimization to efficient graph traversal, considering optimized computational parallelization. Among the requisites there are a solid grasp of algebra and functional analysis, and an attitude towards their practical implementations. You will be working closely with the rest of the research team; efficiently implementing existing academic research, building on top of it, as well as tailoring the algorithms for specific use cases. Making sure that Scape’s large scale reconstruction and localization pipeline is the most efficient in the world.
- PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or Computer Science related subject.
- Fundamental understanding of non-linear and convex optimization.
- Experience programming with CUDA and MPI.
- Ability to write production level code.
- Fluency in C++ and Python.
- Basic understanding of computer vision and machine learning.
- Experience using cloud based computing infrastructure like AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
Who we are
Scape Technologies is a computer vision startup, located in Shoreditch, London. The company is building a cloud-based ‘visual engine’ that allows camera devices to understand their environment, using computer vision.
Rather than rely on 3D maps built and stored locally, Scape's visual engine builds and references 3D maps on the cloud, allowing devices to tap into a ‘shared understanding’ of an environment. The first product is an SDK for mobile devices that allows augmented reality content to be anchored to specific locations, outside and at an unprecedented scale.
