Scopely is looking for a Lead Technical Artist to direct our efforts in structuring technical art foundations for the Dice franchise.

Core responsibilities

    • Improve tech art workflow and Unity project foundation to achieve:
    • Top-class visuals and UX
    • Optimal performance (draw calls, memory consumption, etc.)
    • Re-usability and consistent UI
    • Quicker and more robust implementation workflow for the other technical artists

    • Work closely with the art team to improve the source art export/tech art import workflow
    • Be a leader, mentor, and role model for the tech art team
    • Be a communication bridge between artists and production/engineering

Requirements

    • Three years or more acting in a senior/lead tech art role
    • Three years or more working in mobile gaming--shipped a game on Android & iOS a definite plus.
    • Expert with Unity game engine
    • Expert understanding of art pipelines

Examples of potential tasks

    • Define and organize a set of reusable UI prefabs that artists can use in mock-ups and TAs can re-use in implementation (pop-ups, buttons, fonts, etc.)
    • Define sorting layer rules
    • Define a tech art release candidate checklist
    • Define compression rules for imported assets
    • Define max texture size rules
    • Define best sprite packing practices 
    • Define slicing and tile-able rules
    • Define best guidelines for animation rigs
    • Ensure draw calls are optimized throughout the game
    • Clean out old images, prefabs, etc. in the project and ensure naming conventions and organizational rules are being enforced
    • Set up a workflow for tech artists where it is near friction-less to achieve all the rules and guidelines defined above
    • Set up and organize centralized tech art documentation
