CNC Automation Engineer

The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of closet or cabinet manufacturing, strong CNC programming experience, and a passion for driving operational excellence through automation, tooling, and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Programming & Process Automation
- Develop and maintain CNC programs for nested-based routers used in closet and cabinet production.
- Optimize tool paths, nesting, and cut sequencing for material efficiency, speed, and accuracy.
- Create and manage parametric templates and rules in design-to-machine software (e.g., Cabinet Vision).
- Implement label printing/barcoding integration for downstream processes (sorting, kitting, assembly).
- Collaborate with IT and ERP teams to connect CNC workflows with NetSuite or MES platforms.
Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering
- Serve as the technical lead for equipment troubleshooting, maintenance protocols, and capital improvement projects.
- Evaluate and improve machine utilization, OEE, tool life, and program standardization.
- Support R&D and production teams in launching new cabinet or closet SKUs, parts, or design variations into production.
Continuous Improvement & Team Support
- Conduct time studies and implement lean principles (e.g., 5S, SMED, standard work).
- Train CNC operators and production leads on machine usage, safe practices, and workflow discipline.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Design, QC, and Procurement to improve manufacturability and reduce rework.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in closet, cabinet, or millwork manufacturing, including hands-on CNC programming.
- Strong proficiency with Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, Mozaik, or similar design/CNC platforms.
- Deep understanding of cabinet and closet hardware and construction methods.
- Solid knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, machine calibration, tooling, and pneumatics.
- Experience with nested-based CNC routers and edge-banding automation equipment.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred), barcode scanners, and manufacturing data collection tools.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead floor-level problem-solving initiatives.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Experience integrating CNC systems with ERP/WMS systems.
- Experience designing simple tooling or production aids (e.g., assembly guides, alignment jigs) using CAD software or equivalent hands-on methods.
Location & Schedule
- Onsite role at our Grapevine and/or Lewisville, TX production facilities.
- Full-time, Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend or after-hours support during new line launches or critical installs.
$95,000 - $120,000 a year
